Ojai Valley Inn
Played On 05/27/2022Course was okay, but a little disappointed this time.
Great location and the weather was nice. Felt a little like the riff raff though at the country club, as our carts were not working properly. The touch screen on the gps system on one cart was not working and the other cart’s battery went dead toward the end of the round. Greens were mostly in good shape, but one of the par 3’s was in pretty bad shape for this kind of course. I was also disappointed with GolfNow, when after modifying the number of players from four to three players due to a medical emergency, that they do not refund the money because it was a hot deal, but they still offer the the extra spot on their site and most likely got paid twice for the same reservation. Their rewards they offered are useless to me for the times I can play. Kinda of a joke. Getting that off my chest, it was still a great time with friends!
Olivas Links Golf Course
Played On 04/14/2017Too slow this day
I really like Olivas Links and am going to make it my go to course in the future. The course is in good shape and the greens are firm, but not so hard that they're too difficult for an average player. I must say though on this particular day, the pace of play was too slow. I noticed that there seemed to be quite a few threesome groups, as opposed to foursomes and was wondering if that could have something to do with it. I had to quit early at the 16th hole, because of an event I needed to get to. It took 4 1/2 hours to finish 16.

It was perfect weather and I felt lucky to be able to play. There were a few things though that I think I should point out. First, the ball machine at the driving range was broken, but after going back to the pro shop and letting them know, someone came and fixed it right away. The driving range mats were worn out and uneven and the range balls were pretty old too. While the fairways were trim, the rough was a little too long, so it made it difficult to find my ball. One thing I appreciated was the ball washers actually had soapy water in them and the towels were clean. The golf cart's battery went dead at the 8th hole, so someone had to come out and give us a another one. At the 17th hole, that one started going dead too and the guy that i was paired up with had to actually get out and push the cart to get it to the last hole. It was my birthday that day and I found out after the fact I could have played the round for free, but it was so inexpensive anyway using Golfnow that I didn't mind.
Sterling Hills Golf Club
Played On 03/11/2017Third week in a row.
The course was challenging from the blue tees. The weather was great! The greens were in fair condition, but the grass surrounding fairways needed trimming. Also, there were quite a few areas roped off for repair on the fairways themselves. The pace of play was considerably slow due to the group ahead of us. It would have been great to have a marshal there to monitor this and remind them to speed up or let the group behind them pass. We were waiting at least a full three minutes, and sometimes longer per shot for them to get out of the way.
