Don't let the yardage fool you.

The Preserve is an awesome course. Each hole stands on its own. Don't let the yardage fool you. Errant tee shots will be swallowed up. Wonderful Florida swamp golf. Front nine gives you some opportunity to score, back nine the wind kicks up you have to strike your ball well. Greens are in great shape.

Slow Play

Pace of Play:
Pierce Lake is fun course to play. But not when it takes 5 hours. Understandably....people were looking for golf balls in the leaves (which were not chopped, mowed or blown into the woods) but 2 separate rangers inquired about the pace of play throughout the round and neither of them did anything about it. Front nine 2: hours 25 minutes, back nine 2 hours and 23 minutes.

Golf Course:
The golf course is very playable....except the dumbest finishing hole ever. Par 3 230 yards....with a forced carry of probably at least 210 depending on the pin. Although there is some room short and left, the natural wetlands make it pretty impossible to see so it feels all of 230 with zero bailout. And the hole faces west, which typically plays into a breeze. And this is from the 1-up tees with a total distance of just under 6800 yards. I can only imagine how stupid this hole would be with an added 20 yards of carry from the tips. It would be one thing if the hole was straight in front of you and distance was the difficulty, but the natural wetlands short and right, the sloped hill left and behind leave pretty much zero bail out, and an extremely difficult up and down if you find land off your tee shot.
In my opinion, this hole could be sweetest finishing hole by expanding the hole by only 45 -60 yards and make it a go-for-broke short par 4. Opening up a bit more fairway would leave plenty of options off the tee and a great opportunity to finish with a birdie, par, and still bring bogeys and worse into play. I've played here at least 10 times and never sniffed a decent look at birdie. Feel great if you make a par, but most often leave the course dumbfounded and annoyed with bogey or worse. I'm sure I'm not the only person who dislikes this hole.
