Dorado Country Club
Played On 04/23/2019Wonderful executive course
We love this course! We sometimes golf 9 holes and sometimes we golf 18 holes. The afternoon is the best time as it is usually pretty light. Sometimes you can go off the back nine instead of the front nine for a little variation if you're only doing nine holes. I have noticed recently that the fairways are not in the best condition with, with some weeds, but the course is so much fun it's easy to overlook this.

Played On 06/02/2016water water everywhere
A challenging little course, where water is on every hole and comes into play on over half the holes. But it's fun anyway for the moderate to good golfer. Par 4 holes are mostly high 200s to low 300s in yardage for women. The clubhouse/pro shop is charming and vintage with a wrap-around porch. I would say this is one of my favorite courses in the Chicagoland area.
Executive at Scherwood Golf
Played On 05/29/2016good short game practice
While some of the holes are pretty straight, at least half have some challenges. Love to golf this course for my short game. Dislike the fact that there is soccer being played at the same time (with the same color flags which can be confusing as well as annoying). This is the new thing on golf courses.
Fred Enke Golf Course

I enjoy this course; each hole is different and some have extremely challenging features (like, you can't see what's ahead of you without driving up and taking a look and there are some St. Andrews bunkers!). You'll have a good chance of seeing wildlife, too. Now, the disadvantages: poorly marked holes and limited directional signs (showing where to go for the next hole); would be challenging to walk, as there is some distance between holes; cafe closed by 4 pm; only one bathroom (hole 7 and 15), but lots of cover you could use if needed! Greens were in great condition; fairways in moderately good condition. Overall, well worthwhile to golf here.
Oak Hills Country Club
Played On 07/14/2015fun and challenging
We were surprised by this executive course - 9 holes that were very different and quite challenging, with water and bunkers coming into play. It's a mature course, with trees (some of which come into play on the hole). The greens are undulating and tough. There are 2 par 5s, 3 par 4s, and 4 par 3s (but some were long, for women). We couldn't find the markers for any of the holes, but trust me, they were easy to find.
Wedgewood Golf Course
Played On 10/25/2014mature course
The gold tees appear to be an afterthought (many are just stuck in the middle of the fairway) but when you can even find them, they do make the course a reasonable length for weaker golfers. Some beautiful holes, some challenging bunker placements. Don't expect to see a lot of women on this course. It's if fair to good condition, but leaves are a real problem in the fall, on the greens. I'd golf or again but probably not regularly.

We enjoy this course quite a bit. It is beautiful, with a variety of challenges in the 9 holes. Well maintained, and easy to walk. Great value, and they have a fabulous restaurant, Ashbury's
El Rio Golf Course

This course is so historic, every golfer should play it at least once. The fairways are straight, but the bunkers around the greens are challenging and the greens themselves are undulating and tough (but slow...they aren't trimmed as much as should be). Fairways are in bad condition, greens are in okay to good condition.
canderson,
Thank you for the review. We're happy to hear the course tested not only your accuracy, but your length as well. It sounds as if the greens presented some unique opportunities for you as well. We'd be happy to have you back anytime.
