Shepherd's Hollow 1 Golf Course
Played On 05/15/2020Is there a 6th Star?
Shepherds Hollow is an incredible golf course that is hands down the best golf course in the area, and it’s not even close. The course is incredibly designed and in impeccable condition. It is attackable, but can be punishing if you make bad shots.
The Orchards Golf Club
Played On 05/05/2020A beauty that bites
Orchards is a great golf course, it’s very well maintained, extremely photogenic, and has a very fun design. Don’t let loose deceive you though, the greens are fast, the bunkers are deep, and the rough is THICK. Make sure you hit the fairway on this golf course, if you don’t, you will be punished.
Coyote Preserve Golf Club
Played On 04/27/2020GEM
This is one of the best golf courses in the state of Michigan. It is challenging sometimes and rewarding other times. But one thing is for sure, it is beautiful, amazingly designed and very well maintained. It was an hour drive that I will be happy to make again in the future.
Lapeer Country Club
Played On 03/17/2020A good value course
I won't lie, Lapeer country club is not a special golf course, but for what you pay, its an excellent value. The front nine and the back nine on this course are not even remotely alike, personally, I found the front more enjoyable, as it was much more playable and encouraged more risk taking with your shots. Making the turn I thought I had found a hidden gem of a golf course, but the back nine did not impress me. The back nine is a lot of up and down, holes like #16 you go off an elevated tee box to a low fairway and then go back uphill to the green. I don't mind that so much, but I did have a problem with the fairways on the back 9. You could hit a fantastic tee shot and be right in the middle of the fairway, yet have an absolutely atrocious lie. Personally, the problem I have with this is that it does not reward good shot making. Overall, I think that for the 14.00 I paid to play, the course was more than worth it. This is also a great golf course to walk, you get a lot of exercise, and it is not terribly long or spread out, making it a pretty easy walk.
Harbor at Wild Dunes Golf Links
Played On 07/01/2019Absolutely Stunning
WOW, What a stunning golf course, the Tom Fazio design intricately weaves the golf course into the terrain and around Water Hazards. Holes 9-11 is one of the best stretches in the United States. They’re majestic and run right along the intercoastal waterway, using the terrain to their advantage. This golf course is VERY unforgiving, but it is also VERY fun. I got my round for $60, what an awesome deal, I would’ve paid $150 to play this course.
Mulberry Hills Golf Course
Played On 05/23/2019Awful, just awful
This course is absolutely awful, the clubhouse smells like cat pee and the workers are rude. The greens on the back 9 are domed, and you cannot hold them whatsoever. All of the greens were in horrible condition, torn up beyond belief and littered with debris. I played the back tees, and there were about 5 holes where there were NO back tee markers. Better yet, the tees were uneven, and looked like nobody bothered to take care of them. The holes have no variation, they are all straight and boring. There are a lot of golf courses in the area, do NOT waste your time with this course, it is absolutely terrible.
Bluffs/Peaks Golf Course at Boulder Pointe Golf Club
Played On 05/07/2019A nice and easy course
I live on this course and play it all the time, it’s VERY well priced. Quite well maintained, and the clubhouse offers all kinds of options in the pro shop. My favorite course is the Dunes, it has some tough holes, and some easy holes. My second favorite is the Bluffs, it’s a little tougher than the Dunes, and I find myself in the bunkers quite a bit. My least favorite course is the Peaks, it’s got a few really good holes, but a few boring ones. That being said, they are all fun courses and well maintained, great for new golfers as all the courses are somewhat easy.
Copper Hills Golf Club - Jungle Course
Played On 04/30/2019A Real Nice Course
Today I played Copper Hills for the third time, and I have now officially played all 3 nine-hole courses. It is all well maintained, and mixes difficult holes with good scoring holes. The Marsh course is the easiest, large fairways, not a lot of water, and few bunkers, but it does have some hard holes. The intermediate-hard difficulty is the Hill course, lots of blind shots, sharp fairway turns, and a really challenging final hole. The hardest course around the Oxford area in my opinion is the Jungle course, lots of tough shots over water and lots of trouble if you are off the fairways.
Oxford Hills Golf & Country Club
Played On 04/24/2019A great course for Novice Golfers
I lived across the street from this course for over 15 years, I have played it at least 200 times, from my time doing junior golf, to my time on the high school golf team. It is a fun course, very well taken care, and the staff is FANTASTIC. I do think that the rates here are a little high, and the pace of play can be miserably slow if you tee off on the same day as a league, but it is a fun course. It is a fairly easy course, as about a bogey-golfer, I usually shoot about +10 here, the Par 4s are the really good scoring holes, the par 3s and 5s are a little tougher, but not bad. If you want to get somebody into golf, starting them at this course is a great idea.
Myth Golf & Banquet - Regulation Course
Played On 04/21/2019A Tough Course
Okay, the greens on this course are absolutely ridiculous, sticking them is near impossible. Outside of the greens, the course is challenging but not terribly hard, it is usually very wet. My biggest complaint about this course are the bunkers, and although there are not very many of them, they are poorly maintained and often full of water.
Devil's Ridge Golf Club
Played On 04/06/2019A fantasy course
Devils Ridge Golf Club is the closest thing to a fantasy course that you will find in Suburban Detroit. The fairways are segmented and you will find yourself constantly in trouble if you go with the “Long and Wrong” approach. I would not recommend this course to beginners, it is HARD, but it is a lot of fun.
The Fortress Golf Course
Played On 08/05/2019Magnificent!
If you live within an hour or two of this course, or have been to Frankenmuth and not played, you are missing out, this is an AWESOME golf course. The layout is tough but not ridiculous, it’s long from the tips, yet still challenging from the middle tees. The Bunkering around the greens makes approach shots at the Fortress really tough, especially on 13, the approach shot is very hard. The staff was VERY friendly and even offered me some tips on certain holes. The greens, fairways, and Tees are all in pristine condition, and it has some really natural long grass that just looks like it belongs on a golf course. I WILL be returning to this course in the near future.
Hi, thank you for the four-star review! We are happy to hear that you got to experience all three courses. Thank you for your feedback, and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
