Prince William Golf Club
Played On 06/20/2016Greens "tricked up"
Everything about this course was enjoyable except the outrageous pin placements based on the green speeds. Balls would not hold greens, and in some cases rolled off greens by just touching a putter to back of the ball. Almost every cup was placed on a steep incline that made every situation ridiculous. Since we played the day after the US Open ended at Oakmont ended, our first thought was the greens keeper wanted to out Oakmont, Oakmont. One of PWCGC's members who knows the greens, had multiple putts roll off the greens that should have stopped within a few feet. My low handicap friend from England called the greens "a joke" and the current speeds don't match the design.
Bottom line: we won't go back and have been telling friends to not waste their time. More enjoyable choices in this same area

Played On 04/25/2016Could be good with proper effort!
I have played this course about seven times. The course condition has varied from good to very poor. During my April 2016 visit the greens were pretty good but all other conditions were poor. The fairways were like a normal first cut rough and the actual rough was very long with weeds, dandelions and many other forms of unidentified vegetation making play difficult.
This course could be an amazing property if brought up to normal standards. The layout is interesting, the scenery beautiful, and the manager very friendly. Obviously the owner is challenged by maintence costs, but they keep their rates rather low. Through Golf Now you can often play this course for $18.
If you want a nice day in the Shenandoah Valley, and don't expect a pristine venue, then Jackon's Chase is worth a try.
