West at Belfair Golf Club
Played On 05/30/2018Low Country golf at it's finest
A round I won't forget in a while. Epitomizes what low-country golf is all about - finishing holes all along the marsh/sound. Beautiful! Course was in impeccable shape. Southern hospitality on full display. The PGA guys are in for a treat next year for the '19 Nat'l Champ.
Atlantic Dunes at Sea Pines Resort
Played On 05/30/2017Harder
Played the old Ocean Course many times, I like most of the improvements. Some of the new greens are 'gimicky' with big mounds in middle. New #10 is good. From the back tee, all the par 3's are roughly same yardage which in my opinion is poor design...more variety would be nice. Last 4 holes are awesome. Nats were the worst ever. Facilities first class. Great walking course, just be careful of play behind you when you're walking to or playing from the tee. New bunkers look great.
Two Rivers Golf Course
Played On 09/10/2016New Greens
Course just re-opened with new Bermuda greens. I'm not a bermuda-green guy, but they rolled ok and were deceptively fast. Balls ran out past the hole. Having been closed all summer for greens renovation, the rough was very long and healthy. Made for tough conditions if not in the fairway. Some great holes on the back 9. Pace of play was poor. We were a 4some (3 walking), and pushed the 4some in front of us the whole day. Wish the course posted tee times on GolfNow.com, would play more.
Country Club of Hilton Head
Played On 08/31/2016Good track, always thought it was fully private
Been coming to HHI for years, never even considered CC HH because I always thought it was fully private. Good to see they came aboard GN.com. Nice course, typical layout and design of many of the courses on Hilton Head. Some real pretty holes on the back 9 that border Skull Creek. Favorite holes were the back to back short par 4 and short par 5 on the front 9. Will play again.
Towhee Club
Played On 10/11/2015Ok, getting a little better
Couldn't have asked for better weather. Played as a 2some, zipped through the front 9 in under 2 hours, waited on every shot on the back 9. Not sure exactly why, but every time I've played here, there has been a substantial wait on 10 tee after the turn, 4 groups stacked up today. Perhaps moving the tees up on 10 (long par 3) or providing quicker service at the snack bar would help. Good to see new cart paths in places, and fairway/rough definition as well (right side of 17). This is the case at most every golf course I play, but would it kill the shop staff to smile and act like they want you there?
Old South Golf Links
Played On 06/09/2015Some beautiful holes
The holes along the marsh and Calibogue are awesome. Some of the best around, for sure. Chose to play here largely because this time of year everybody else is punching their greens. Seems smart to adjust your schedule and take advantage while the rest of the competition is down. Very convenient to HHI, just off the island.
FarmLinks at Pursell Farms
Played On 12/19/2013A must play
Played October 2013. Got poured on during front 9. Didn't phase us a bit. This is an absolute must play. Highly recommend you experience all this place has to offer including their on-site cabins/lodging. The course conditions were phenomenal, service was great. We now come every Fall to play, and our group is getting bigger each year. Top 3 golf experiences I've ever had.
Grand Cypress - North/South
Played On 11/23/2013Fun Day
Greens on East Course are very small; premium on ball striking and accuracy. North course has 2 new holes, #7 and #8, both of which are very similar to the original holes. An info sign on the tee would have been nice explaining the reasoning. Range balls were very old. Fun time had by all. Will definitely come back.
GreyStone Golf Club
Played On 9/29/2012Great experience
Greystone consistently provides an enjoyable round via good course conditioning (greens are great) and quick pace of play.
