Conditions were very good. Don’t recall any bad areas, but I did pull out of the desert a time or two based on my own incompetence. Really liked the layout, but not challenger an advanced golfer. Pace was a hint slow on the front both with my group and others, but players knew when they were holdup things and would pick up. Back pace was great with some golfers quitting after 9.
Wish this course were closer so I could enjoy it more.

Course was in very good condition, but 2 of 3 times I have played here have had bad experiences with other golfers. Rude, slow, old, bitter and act as if they are the owners. They do not like golfers who are under retirement age and let it be known. Not worth the hassle when the winter visitors are there. Avoid this place.

Cart attendants we’re punk kids with no work ethic. Didn’t load my clubs, offer to clean or unload. I had to ask for ice and a cooler a DNS’s only got about one inch of ice. Cart had engine light on and I had to switch all gear out by myself. Started 40 minutes late, pace was miserable for first four holes, course was soggy when it was not swampy. Huge areas on fairways and greens with just dirt, especilly on back, all restrooms on course closed and locked while ten or more groups still playing, pro shop Andy restaurant closed after front nine, I wouldn’t play here again if it were free.

Course is in fabulous condition. Greens a bit slow, but consistent. Boxes in great shape and fairways gorgeous. Cart path only, but some folks violated this rule. One concern, golfers don’t repair ball marks on greens. This is indicative of the snobs that play here. Otherwise, it’s gorgeous

First time playing Payson Golf Course, but it is the only public course in Payson. 12 holes were very flat with minimal bunkers. Greens were in average condition, not very challenging. Most challenging hazard were the course conditions, combination of crab grass, dead rye, clovers, sprawling weeds and burnt pathes of other grasses. Golf cart was exceptionally old, no frills. Many, many beginners on course and a good handful of expereienced players. Folks were nice enough in the pro shop and on the course. Menu was uninteresting. Facility was fine, just dated. A couple holes on back nine were quiet interesting with narrow fairways or tee off 'tunnels' and used mountains to challenge the hole. I don't regret the outing as it did require some concentration, but many lies needed to be moved to find some decent grass from which to hit. Don't pay more than $30.

course is in great condition from all aspects. Everything was fine aside from humidity, but that is a different issue. Need to talk to Biden & Gretchen about controling the weather better.

On a fairly hot day, I started early and did not see another group until tee 11. Course was really in good shape, greens were a bit longer than normal, but that is ok and they were very consistent. If they were cut shorter, they would have burned up. Tee boxes & fairways were in good condition for Arizona summer. Tee 10 was overrun by crawling weeds, others were fine. Green skirts were in very good condition also. Some fairways were pretty narrow and I may have hit a house or two ; (. REstrooms every 6 holes is nice. Drinking water on all holes is very nice! Ladies in the grill were really kind & attentive, prices in grill were wonderful. Very nice day.

Course conditions very good. Wide fairways were in great shape, greens rolled well, but a couple small rises near cup added a couple strokes, overall, great day golfing. Paired with a wonderful man and enjoyed the day thoroughly.

I think many of the other reviews were a bit generous. Some tee boxes torn up, most green patches on and off fairways were clovers and weeds, not grass. Some greens were very nice and consistent, some had large dry patches a, leaves, small rocks/large sand chunks. Greens were inconsistent rolls from hole to hole. Water in ball washers smelled like sewage, cart was nice and quiet, but brake wouldn’t catch so cart started beeping while you are addressing ball. GPS in cart was useless; no yardage, only hole layout. No additional functions on GPS such as music, speakers or Bluetooth. Clubhouse main entrance was locked. Small practice green, driving range is irons only and no useable grass, just sand. GPS kept flashing commercials 3-4 times per hole which required touches to screen to get back to hole. Don’t even think GPS had a scorecard. Sand bunkers not bad, but I only hit one. Not many sand traps on course. Pretty flat layout on nearly every hole. Pace was slow with players hitting 3-4 shots or zig-zagging across course to play a miserable game. Most players were excessively slow but some would let you play through. Entrance to pro shop unmarked, just a door around the back. Paths from holes 4-6 and most of back nine is driving on streets through the community. Not really worth the money except that it was a beautiful day and $45 in April. Doubtful to return. Too many other quality courses in the valley.

Course conditions were very nice, greens were solid and fairways in good shape. North vs. course; long vs. short to drive the fairway, narrow vs. wide fairways, sand traps in difficult vs. not so obtrusive placement. Both courses have good differences.

Wonderful course in great condition. Many undulations on fairways and greens, very challenging for a weekly golfer. Many options with mix of tee choices, not too long but narrow fairways on some holes keep you focused. Most consistent course conditions I have played all year and this was middle of May. Beautiful scenery, lots of sand and water. Pace was very open for a weekday.
I may have a new course for my tip 3 in Phoenix valley!

Quick check in, pace was very good for this time of year, amenities, were ok, but inside sh service was iffy, and they close down long before sunset. If you want to enjoy a drink after the round, either go elsewhere or buy a few extras from the beverage cart.

I have played this course many times for 5 years and always have enjoyed the experience. However, the conditions after reseeding was the worst in the valley. not a single fairway with any type of playable grass, greens are patchy at best and all your shots will be off dry, hard, weedy or unplayable lies. Not worth the $20 green fee. Go to Painted Mountain, Apache Wells, Apache Creek, Dobson Ranch Western Skies, Kokopelli, Superstition Springs or any other course until they can get this one in playing shape. They need to close for the winter and get it playable.

I have played this course many times over many years. This is by far the worst condition I have ever seen it. I played 80% of my shots from bare dirt to dead bermuda spreaders. Tee boxes were patchy and that was the best part. Greens had some much same that not a single putt was reasonable. fairways were miserable with sparse patches of green and even those areas were very short. best lies were in the 'rough' which was mainly unmown bermuda grass. Sand traps have not been tended to in at least 5 months, not even by maintenance crew. Not having rakes is one thing, ignoring traps for any type of routine maintenance is another. Pace was exceptionally slow and of course no marshall to move youngsters along who were just messing around. Indoor grill is still closed, but there was a beverage cart, Beers only $3 but that is the only upside to this miserable experience. BTW, this used to be one of my favorite courses. The must have new grounds crew because there is no excuse for such poor conditions. Also, they had reseeded in early Sept. This round was in mid-oct. Dead seed lying everywhere on course. The trick is to keep the seed wet so it can grow, not just lightly spray it 1-2 times/day.

Although this is a shorter course than most, it is a great value. I normally play from men's tees, but play from tips here. course in very good condition for late August, greens well kept and both fairways & rough are in very good shape. No beverage cart or open grill on Mon-Wed is the only issue I would state as undesirable. However, if you just want to play on a good course, this is a fine choice. Nice housing lines the course, so it is always a beautiful place to play. The course conditions have been handled very well in this ridiculous heat.

I played in the middle of the Arizona summer which was incredibly hot. However, the course conditions were well above average for the Phoenix area in August and water and restrooms were available to help cool down. Course has some tough layouts and undulating fairways. Even a few desert washes with tall vegetation to help you keep focused on a good shot. Lots of wildlife, to include rats in the washes. Hey, what do you expect for south Phoenix?
Il definitely be back once the rates drop.

For late June, course is in great shape. Greens very consistent and green. Fairways 95% green with good grass height. Rough was green and easy to play. Sand traps were in great shape and grounds crew rakes daily. A bit of standing water/mud in traps, but I’d take that for a lush green and fairway all day. Teed off as a single just before nine and did not run into another group until 12 and they kept up the pace through the end. Everything was great.
