Paradise Valley Golf Course
Played On 01/07/2024An afternoon at Paradise
The course was in good condition. The greens were good. Some of the traps didn't have a lot of sand in some areas (I happen to hit a ball in to one of those areas and was sitting on hard dirt) but that's a minor issue. Paradise Valley is a challenge to the high hdcp player, but pretty straight forward and you can score well on it if you hit it clean and straight. A fun course.
Diablo Creek Golf Course
Played On 03/01/2020Open fairways, tough pins
Had a good time today, I'm not the straightest off the tee, so wide fairways are my friend. Good condition, decent pace of play too. But the greens, wow some tough pin placements for us amateurs. Still a good course. Clubhouse and restaurant/bar are ok. In general the whole place is a bit dated.
Chardonnay Golf Club
Played On 01/26/2019Good course but....
Good conditions for the most part a little muddy but with all the recent rain, understandably so. My only complaint would be pace of play. 5 hour plus round, we barely beat sundown teeing off a little after 12pm. Other than that, a pretty good experience. Where were the marshals? Had to wait to tee off at almost every hole. Frustrating.
Rio Vista Golf Club
Played On 09/25/2016Aerating greens I get it
But the condition of the rest of the course was deplorable. Unplayable bunkers, unkempt areas around the green, bad mowing, and flooded areas in one section, bone dry dirt in others. The only plus point, fantastic layout, very challenging. Hopefully someday this course can be rejuvenated. A real gem potentially.
Diablo Grande Golf & Country Club
Played On 7/07/2013A long drive from the Bay Area
But worth the trip for the golf enthusiast. Two very challenging courses set in the hills south of Patterson (home of the excellent Stevinson Ranch to give you an idea of where it is located) The Ranch course reminded me a little of another Bay Area staple, Coyote Creek in San Jose. The greens were very good, rolled true and were soft enough that if you landed, you stuck. I'd recommend you take your foursome out there for a weekend. There are some motels nearby in Westley and all along Hwy 5 but to my knowledge no lodging on site. Still, as I said, well worth the trip for a great day of golf.
