El Conquistador Golf & Tennis - Canada Course
Played On 03/13/2023Very playable
Overseeded fairways and greens were very good and well tended. “Rough” was dormant Bermuda, and was a bit sparse, causing balls not in the fairways often stuck under a bush OB. Excellent staff,. Drinking water on the course, a real plus. When will ball washers return?
del Lago Golf Club
Played On 03/06/2023Lots of L Doglegs
Fairways (over seeded rye) were good. Dormant Bermuda rough mostly ok. Bunkers were raked, but stoney and too little sand depth to be playable. Design: relentless doglegs L. Greens were quite playable.
Practice area quite good. Would add distance indicators on the range.

Played On 01/26/2023One of the Best in S. AZ
Very enjoyable round, requires control of direction and distance, especially when windy. Speed of greens influenced by direction of putt relative to mountains.. Last hole is dramatic—Tee off fro blacks no matter what tees used earlier.
El Conquistador Golf & Tennis - Conquistador Course
Played On 01/21/2023Very fun day
The conquistador corse is a fun layout with good selection of tees for each level of golfer. The holes are well laid out, and reasonably well conditioned considering play was in late January, temp in the 50s. Green reading was relatively difficult, especially speed depending on direction of putt.
Waikoloa Village Golf Club
Played On 02/16/2022Fun course
This is a great alternative to the high-priced (for non Hawaiian golfers) resort courses nearby. Nice layout gentle slopes, many doglegs. Greens in good shape but many had speeds hard to predict without prior experience. Bunkers are ground coral, a learned experience (done to protect against sometimes high wind velocity). Lots of cold water on course for refilling your water bottle.
The final hole, a par 5 over water, requires planning and sound judgment!
El Conquistador Golf & Tennis - Canada Course
Played On 11/15/2021Very enjoyable round
Nice place to play. Cart and range balls included, very good practice facility.
Course design very interesting. Riding a must—no way to walk. Very well conditioned fairways and greens. Greens roll very well, but first timers will often have difficulty seeing the proper line to the hole, given the surrounding topography.
Bunkers very strategically located. Trees in the way of any shot to the greens not perfectly located in the fairway can be frustrating,
Dell Urich at Randolph Golf Course
Played On 11/12/2021Nice layout, slow greens
Del Urich GC is much more interesting than its sister Randolph Park North Course. The fairways and bunkers were very good, rough scruffy and inconsistent, and greens smooth but very slow, making it hard to putt on line and expect a predictable bend to the hole.
Note to staff: the first hole fairway was littered with numerous range balls, making it difficult to locate just which ball is yours. This is something that must be corrected!
Ventana Canyon - Canyon Course
Played On 11/07/2021Autumn golf in AZ
Fun course. Many tee options to suit golfers of all abilities.
Very good conditions.Faiwsy grass pushes ball to sit on top, never burying. However, due to relatively recent overseeeding, cart-path only mandate was a pain, requiring sometimes long walks to your ball.
Also, the Canyon course layout is wacky, with 9-10 distance over a mile! No way to walk this course.
Sewailo Golf Club
Played On 03/05/2020Challenging in the wind
This is a course that requires experience. Precise ball placement and forced carries are especially difficult in the 10-20 mph winds we dealt with. The course is attractive but extensively bunkered.
El Conquistador Golf & Tennis - Conquistador Course
Played On 02/24/2020Excellent Venue
At the Golf and Recreation Center in Oro Valley in the Foothills region north of Tucson, one of 2 eighteen hole courses owned by the Hilton (1/2 mile away) and operated by Troon Golf. Excellent conditioning, very interesting layout, well but not excessively bunkered. Greens are large and receptive, some 2-tiered, putting affected by location of Tucson in valley below. Great staff made us feel valued and welcome.
Mere Creek Golf Course
Played On 08/28/2019Improvement after US Navy Left
Former golf course for Brunswick Naval air station, now public since the Navy’s departure. Conditions much improved. Design requires hard and fast fairways given the length of holes 3, 6,7, and 9. Greens well maintained, putt true. Bunkers marginal, fairways and rough relatively ragged. Good beginner’s course, with driving range (poor shape) and nice practice area.
Woodlands Club
Played On 07/04/2019The best layout in Maine
Designed by George and Jim Fasio and opened in 1989, the course is a real gem. No 2 holes are alike-each is unique in layout and strategy. 5 sets of tees. Water on 11/18 holes, elevated greens on 10/18 holes, making it play longer than the ~6900 yards from the tips. Bunkers and irrigation recently redone. Greens exquisite, bent grass and no tricks. One learns to hit it straight on this beautiful course!
Dell Urich at Randolph Golf Course
Played On 03/25/2019Quality layout, challenging
Holes all exhibit singular individuality, and punish mistakes in planning strategy for each. Conditions were fair: greens excellent, fairways good, rough barren dormant Bermuda. Bunkers well cared for, challenging designs ranging from high bunker lips to being able to putt out of the bunker (hole #1). Great bargain!
Arizona National Golf Club
Played On 03/22/2019Wonderful design, challenging layout
Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., the course is nestled within valleys in the Santa Catalina foothills. The holes on the back 9 are more challenging than on the front, especially par 4 10 and par 5 11. Par 5 18 is a gorgeous hole, especially from the blu and black tees. Corse conditions were great, greens fair but grain and speed influenced markedly the mountains above.
The only downside: bunkers are essentially barren, with little sand, and are difficult to negotiate.
Advice: get a printed or on line course guide!
Ventana Canyon - Canyon Course
Played On 03/17/2019Beautiful Course, Crazy Layout
Two courses: members play one (today, Mountain Course), outside customers play other (today, Canyon Course). Not walkable, power cart required to negotiate extensive and circuitous layout. 5 tee choices, this playable by all skill levels, although forced carries may challenge some. Excellent conditions, with over seeded rough as well as fairways. Greens are superb.

The Club at Starr Pass - Rattler/Coyote
Played On 03/03/2019Gorgeous Scenery, Punishing Hazards
Beautiful setting in western Tucson. Interesting elevation changes. Many blind shots that can lead to disaster if shot not proper length and direction. 3 nines, and my GPS device worked on only Roadrunner 9, not on Rattler 9. Didn’t play Coyote 9. I’d recommend a printed course guide and more sprinkler head distance indicators.

Played On 03/01/2019Gorgeous vistas
Great design, lovely views of town and mountains, fairways pristine. Bunkers properly designed but difficult in that sand depth minimal and causes wedge to rebound into ball. Bermuda greens with significant grain, also significant influence of mountains on speed and path of putts.
Mockingbirds all around!

Nice layout. Very playable for all golfers. Well maintained. Very well located near airport.

Played On 02/06/2019Nice location
Nice location. Nice people. Poor greenskeeping. Back nine more interesting than front.
We appreciate you taking the time to give us your feedback. We're glad you enjoyed the course staff. We will look into your concerns regarding the greens. We hope you'll join us for another round of golf soon!
PGA WEST Pete Dye Mountain Course
Played On 02/03/2019A Course Guide Would Help Big Time
We played a day after a rain, which meant “Cart Paths Only”, slowing play greatly. This was our 1st time on the course, and distance assessment was hard. We never kept the group behind us waiting, yet twice we were sternly upbraided by a ranger for slow play. All in all, a printed course guide would help guide play and help with distance assessments.
