Best Course in North County

Great course, great staff, fair price. This is my new home course after years of mistreatment from the “JC courses”. Arrowood is a nice balance of challenging but beatable. Quick greens and interesting layout. It’s a little out of the way from the rest of town but worth the drive!

Twin Oaks Golf Course

Unbelievable

Painted fairways, decade old dead spots on greens, worst GM (and one of the only) I’ve ever encountered at a golf course. There’s your blurb to get the obvious out of the way.

It all started when twin oaks was the home course for my foursome’s wolf game. We aren’t the fastest group due to the nature of our bet and the fact that we actually putt compared to quick groups I see wizzing off greens. That said we aren’t a slow group, just one the may fall out of position once or twice. Our biggest fault is being and looking under 40.

The fact I’ve had so many bad experiences there is really my fault at this point, but here they are.

One round, we were on pace for 4hrs 20min, They sent a Marshall to follow our group for 7 holes pulling pins (before Covid). This may seem not to bad, but it was. There way it was done was distasteful and was a wild intrusion on our game.

Second incident was another slow play complaint. This was on a day it was pouring rain, Cart path only. I mean, come on, the course is under water and you could probably walk the course faster than play it cart path only.

All that aside, the last straw was showing up for an afternoon round, and finding out our tee time was pushed back for an unknown amount of time. After 45 min of watching a drinking tournament slush through what should be our tee box and shooting golf balls out of a potato gun, they started us halfway through the back 9. I was fine with the shotgun start bc at least we were finally golfing, and if the story ended there then maybe wouldn’t have even wrote this. A few holes into the front we are approached by the GM who let us know we could play the entire back nine again or get our money back because a second tournament needed to be started on the front.

And what that last story is, is what you should expect from twin oaks. Over booked, over run by sloppy tournaments that tear up the course, poor management, painted grass. I am fed up with JC and their pretend deal of 5 prepaid rounds to save $15 total. I will still play crossings and e ranch occasionally because of location and layout but twin, i am not coming back until under new management. I will not stand for being harassed bc we are actually playing golf but then on the flip side have no value for our time when we are the ones dealing with beginners hacking it up for 5.5 hours in front of us.
