Deerfield Golf Club
Played On 07/24/2019All good at Deerfield
Looked busy when we arrived, but teed off on time and played in about 4:20, normal for us older guys. I wish others would repair ball divots on the greens, I did at least one on every hole beyond any our group made.
Shadow Mountain Golf Club
Played On 02/24/2018Good course for seniors
I was struck by how close the gold tees where to what I usually play as a senior. Challenging for narrow fairways, greens were in great shape, not much sand in the bunkers but that's not unusual in less than top courses these days. I'll be back
Indian Canyons Golf Resort - North Course
Played On 02/18/2018Beautiful old style course
A nice contrast to the more desert like newer courses, the views on each hole are outstanding. Thick lush green fairways and challenging rough. Greens putt true.
Resort at Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort
Played On 03/04/2017Too slow HELP
Nice course with an additional water hazard running through it as the wash was running with water due to recent rains. Got off to a great start, but by start of the back 9, things were so backed up it was painful. I know the people in front of us were waiting on the people in front of them. Further I couldn't see, but we ended up skipping one hole as a player returned to the 17th tee box while others were on the green, so we blew past them and played 18. Too slow for a repeat round - too bad!
Mission Hills - Gary Player Course
Played On 03/02/2017Good place to play 9 at end of day
We were paired up with a nice couple and zipped through 9 holes in less than 2 hours - never say the twosome in front of us after the first hole and the group behind us was also mostly out of sight. Lots of challenging terrain - greens were smooth & true.
Palm Desert Country Club
Played On 02/24/2017Nice track with mountain views
I decided to play here somewhat based on location and the likelihood (less) of high winds as the temperature was a bit chilly. First and best, when I checked in as a single the guy in the pro shop spotted my cart mate and walked me out to introduce us. Overall, everything was just OK. Great layout on #9 and #18 and hard to block out of one's mind ponds on #16 and a couple of other holes. I also liked the desert landscape between 2 and 3, as I recall. Could have been a few more ball washers, surrounding homes a bit dated, but so what. I may come back.
Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort - North/South
Played On 02/09/2017Beautiful course with elevation
Very pleasant surprise. We played portions of two of the nines and all of the West course due to some drainage issues resulting from recent abundant rain. One green had a few bare spots, others were perfect as were the fairways. Friendly staff, decent sandwich on the run. Five tee boxes with very reasonable distance from senior tees. Maybe a bit short from the tips for big hitters.
Highland Park Country Club
Played On 10/29/2016Good course in great condition
I hadn't played at HPCC for a year or two but looked for a place to place inexpensively on a warm Saturday. I was pleasantly surprised at the pace of play, expecting to finish less holes than a complete round. The course has several short par 4's (from the senior tees) which is perfect for the aging golfer with declining distance off the tee. Greens were in amazing shape. A nice track with some interesting holes.
Split Rock Resort & Golf Club - South Course
Played On 08/10/2016Beautiful course
I had a hot deal and was my last day in the Poconos so I figured I'd get in what I could after a rainy evening and a cloudy start to the day. I went out as a single and had to skip two holes, but played the other 16 in a bit over two hours. Many of the holes were memorable with huge elevation changes that often required precise shots. Out of bounds was gone - you'd need to defoliate to find a lost ball, but that made play quicker. Sorry I won't have a chance to play here again.
Cimarron Golf Club - Pebble Par-3 Course
Played On 02/12/2015excellent value
Short course is short and not too challenging, but despite low cost, we were offered free range balls and the range and practice putting areas were very nice. Less than 3 hours to play - what's not to like?
Shadow Mountain Golf Club
Played On 02/05/2015Harder than you'd think
Although all par fours are reachable for a senior, greens are well protected either by doglegs or many bunkers...or both. Greens are tricky but putted true. A challenging course where layout rather than distance provides the challenge.

We appreciate you coming out and playing Tahquitz Creek! We apologize for slow play on the back nine, this is an extremely busy time of year for us. We hope you come back soon so we can show you that this is more of the exception, not the norm.
