Stonebridge Golf Club
Played On 08/14/2016Love this course
I try to play this course several times a year. We always play early on the weekends when there aren't a lot of players out yet so pace is very good. This is a challenging course but not so much that it is frustrating for an average player. Always well cared for. The greens are in good shape and fairly fast. I will continue to return.
Green Oaks Golf Course
Played On 06/13/2015I like this course
I think this is one of the better kept secrets around. A lot of trees and narrow fairways make this a challenging layout. I played from the whites (6,100+) and my son, who hits it big, played from the blues (6,700+) on this par 71 course. Played in just a shade over 4 hours despite slow play on the first 5 holes because of one group. Eventually it spread out and moved fine.
The course was in excellent condition. It provides a challenge without being unfair. At $10 off the normal $33 price, it was an especially good deal on a Saturday morning.
Farmington Hills Golf Club
Played On 05/23/2015Nice layout
Nice layout with some challenging holes but one that is overall very playable for golfers of varying levels. Played the blue tees at 6,000 yards. There are championship tees at 6,400 for more of a challenge. Water on several holes. A lot of open driving holes so able to use driver more here than on many courses I play. My only complaints would be they alternate starting on 1 and 10 each week and delayed the start because of frost on back nine when this was a hole 10 start week. Seems like some flexibility in that procedure would have helped. Also, greens had a lot of ball marks, which isn't the course's fault. People, fix your marks!
Eagle Crest Golf Club
Played On 10/05/2014Under construction
Two holes (10 and 12) were under construction so holes 10-12 were shut down. Didn't know this when I signed up. Still, for $25 it was a great value. This is one of the best courses I've played this year. I wish all courses' greens were this fast and true. Play was slower than I expected given that we teed off at 8:30 on a cold morning. I felt like we should have been able to play the front nine in under two hours but it was about 2:15 and we waited on a lot of shots. Some of the people playing the course shouldn't have been out there as they didn't have the skill level to play this course. And that's coming from someone who's not a great golfer (90-105).
Fox Creek Golf Course
Played On 09/21/2014Course probably shouldn't have been open
I have played this course before and enjoyed it. There was a LOT of rain the prior evening and overnight. The course probably shouldn't have been open. It was almost unplayable. I've never seen so much water on a course. Almost all fairways had multiple large unplayable areas, even the "drier" areas were squishy when walking through them. Multiple sand traps had large amounts of water, to the point that you would literally lose a ball in a greenside sand trap. I would guess some wouldn't be dry for several days. I wouldn't suggest playing Fox Creek if there has been any significant amount of rain in recent days.
