Confusing and a bit dated

The course is serious need of upgrades. Better layouts and development are needed. Some holes were pristine, but other need attention. Some holes you are playing are surrounded by beautiful homes and great scenery, but others are next to farmland. The cart paths are difficult to navigate and incomplete. Greens were in good condition, but tee boxes were often slanted and need to be leveled better. The clubhouse was closed when we came, and it was difficult to find the pro shop (it is small and attached to an auxiliary building next to the clubhouse. The course layout is very weird too. Holes 1-6 and 16-18 are played on the clubhouse side of the highway, and 7-15 are on the other side. You have to go through a tunnel under the road, and is very narrow (we almost hit another group coming through the tunnel. That would have been fun).

The driving range was not even set up . The club pro told us his attendant did not pick up the range, and did little to offer us a solution (we took a first hole mulligan due no warm up).

Better organization, a little more attention to the course overall, and some better landscaping would really help this course.

Good course, but a bit of a drive

The course itself was very well maintained, but not pristine. The GPS provided in the cart was serviceable at best, and very difficult to understand. They really need to either have a how to user manual. We enjoyed ourselves, but the drive was pretty interminable. The course was difficult to find to say the least, and we drove from Tyler. Just be prepared for it. I would recommend this course, but the staff has a few opportunities to take it from a good course to a great course.

Great course and great staff

This was an amazing course. It was like playing on a purely private course. Great pace of play. The starter made sure to ask us how good we were, and then indicated he would slow down a few groups behind us to keep us in the lead and keep their games at a good pace. They actually let us go about 20 minutes earlier than scheduled. The course was just awesome. It was everything I expected it to be and more. Also it was just a short drive from our resort on Hilton Head Island. If you are looking for a great course at a good price, definitely give this one some serious consideration.

Great value for the money

Went and played this course on a whim. Let me tell you the Marines know how to keep up a golf course. If it was not for the golf cart paths being a little bumpy, this course was great. 4/5 stars for me. Plus you get to hear gunfire in the background of an absolutely beautiful course. If you are in a rental car don't forget to bring your agreement. They almost didn't let us on the base without it.
