Good not great

Reasonable course. Should not be more that $50. Doesn't drain well. Soggy in some spots. Edges of fairway bare in a few spots. No other option in Cary for the public

Had a good time at this course the people in the clubhouse were friendly and the club is nestled in a nice community. Oddly some of the homes are very large and nice while others look like spruced up mobile homes. The tee boxes fairways bunkers and greens were all in near perfect shape. This is pretty impressive for late September. Fairway was a little squishy In some parts but that's a great compromise given how little rain we've had in the area And that's not on every hole. Greens were very firm and rolled true. The practice facility was also very nice. Free balls at the driving range nice chipping area and putting area with Callaway balls.

Cons: The cart paths were 80% smooth. My water bottle in bag almost jumped out a few times. The carts are not in the best shape. But they do have great things going for them such as very cushioned seats and large cup holders for an oversized water bottle. Both of those things are a typical but very pleasant. However the carts did run very rough they are gas powered and loud. The tee boxes were not clearly marked with the holes which made identifying which hole you were on confusing to a first time player there. I play over 100 rounds a year and have never had an occasion where I could not find the next hole because the cart path had an unidentifiable spot where inws supposed to turnaround. I suggest some markings that guide the carts to where the next hole is in more locations than they currently have. Also the tee boxes should be clearly marked with which hole you are on. I had difficulty finding one of the holes because the numbers had fallen off of a post that I identified that as the next hole. I did not notice the tee boxes because there was a kid on his bike playing in the creek so I did not know that was where I was supposed to tee off from. When you get to the turn there is a bathroom and a soda machine. So you don't get back to the clubhouse until you're around is complete. That is a little bit of a downer when there is no beverage in food cart making rounds. It was a Sunday so maybe they have this on busier days. As you finish up on 18 go over the bridge and up a small path someone has a sign that points to the clubhouse but there are no other signs at point you to the clubhouse. I'm not from Sanford and I don't know my way around that neighborhood so the cart paths were very difficult to navigate.

In summary I will definitely go back and consider bringing a foursome with me. I would rank it just below some of the country clubs in my area but i do think it's nice for the area. Greens fees are around $85 which I think is a tad high for what you get there. It makes sense when you consider that it's a country club but not once you've been there.

Will be back

This course was fun. Heard alot of hype so checked it out and it did not disappoint. Biggest issue for me was out of the courses control which was distance to course and playing partners. Practice areas were perfect with chipping putting and a full-ish range. Full ish means that a drive will go out of sight so the distance is immeasurable. However the fact that they give you a small bag of ball to hit ahead of your round BRAVO! To me that puts it over the edge and into another planet of it's own. The starter actually gave a **** about what was going on and was helpful. I almost played solo but because I was new I the course and keep a handicap I chose to be paired. Course offered great options to use just about your whole bag. I only carry 12 (no woods) but I used everything except my 51. They had forced carries, wide open let it rips, and cool downhill shots onto a small patch. The white tees are kind of short. It is white but IMHO we midcaps don't need THAT much help. Perhaps it did make the round more enjoyable because it was easy to score well. Bunkers were a little so so. We haven't had any rain so they were packed down and nearly non-existent which meant you're basically playing off of an odd lie rather than out of true sand if that makes sense. Tee boxes were in great shape and the course is very aesthetically appealing. Carts and path were in great shape even though the carts cup holders are too small (a minor pet peeve).

In rough shape

Played this course a lot. Can't remember the last time I've seen it in this bad shape. The staff is always amazing BUT. The range balls are in bad shape. There was no grass to hit off just dirt. There were mats there that were just fine. I'll take grass over a mat anyway except when the grass is in this condition. Pace was great. Tee boxes were struggling. Greens perfect as always but very firm Grill was closed. No cart with snacks to make rounds so be prepared. Would have expected this on a Saturday.

Great course

Looked amazing for August. Looks like it's spring on the course with perfect grass. Bunkers are so soft. They really punish. Im pretty good and it took me two to get out of one of them. Tee boxes look good. Pace was amazing. No food/drink cart. Nice restrooms.on the course.

Nice

Nice for a par 3. You are limited because you have to keep things within three shots but they did an amazing job with the place. Carts and cart path are in good shape. Need online booking. Very long wait with no idea what to expect. Also very crowded in weekends but night golf is pretty awesome.well maintained also for a par 3. Wish it was a little cheaper. On weekends with a cart, it's about the same price as a real course. However, in the area it's fair since there is no par 3 near here.

Good

October is having it's effect on fairway. Bring a sand wedge. Nice facility. Course is long for me playing and walking. Lots of distance between holes and the walker path is not always clear. Not much right before you get into dead hay. Looks nice but it's punishing. All tee buses were nice and the guests were not obnoxious.

Nice and simple. Classic.

Great course quiet carts. Very open. Hard to lose a ball out of bounds. You can lose it in the rough. The ball just disappears. I found like 6 balls that were in play but likely lost drop mad players. This is possibly a sign that it not mowed low enough. Cart path is completely toasted. Where no cart path is left, there are rocks ranging in size from gravel to golf ball sized to fill in holes. Staff is super nice. Thought they were being excessively nice last time but realize after three trips here that they really are just that nice. Friendliest staff in Wake County IMHO. Many other courses act like they are doing you a favor by allowing you to play there. To some degree that's true but I shouldn't pick up on it. No driving range here so if you don't play often your first whack to get the dust off will be on hole 1. If this place had a driving range I would go all the time. Excellent and spacious putting and chipping green. There is space to go back to about 100 yards and practice into the green but I assume that is restricted because you will leave giant ball marks and ruin the chipping experience for others. Tryon is heavy traffic coming off 18 so you can die crossing the street on a workday at 530. I drove all the way back to 13 to get across safely. No easy way to get back there from 18 other than meandering very far from where you really want to go. Owner should pave a shorter way back to the club house off 18 that goes under Tryon safely.

A difficult beauty

This course is nestled in a gorgeous neighborhood with deer roaming around. I am a consistent 90s golfer and this was a difficult course for me. Rated 75. I will go back though. Greens are firm, sloped, and slow making them difficult to read. No problems with pace for us. Rough had rocks and inconsistent species of grass. Tight fairways with few true driver holes from the white tees. Based on the pace comments I would tie this with course difficulty. We played mostly from the fairway and the front took over 2 hours. Carts were gas powered and weak. I would have expected electric but this was a great trade off considering where the course has invested in it's golfing experience. Not a good course to walk. Very long and there is no walker path. Service was great and amenities would be nice if there was no covid. I will go back and recommend this course.

Value, Beautiful, Difficult, Gas carts

I don't play off a handicap but shoot in the 90s with great consistency. This course was flat out punishing. Rated 75. Will do better next time but on a bad day these fairways are very tight. Very few driver holes. Slow greens that look fast are really confusing. Aside from that, staff was friendly, homes that line the course are nice, and practice facility and course condition was near perfect in the fairway. The rough is not well kept. It has rocks and inconsistent grass species. Course is not walkable in 4 hrs as holes are very spread out. Loud gas carts with low power was a let down but its a good trade off considering where they have invested and it's beauty takes your mind off a high score if only for a few moments.

Hilly but nice

Lots of hills. Even a good tee shot may put you on the side of a hill or on a downhill lie. Great course though. Never had to hit off dirt. Carts quiet and powerful. Staff friendly. Nicely lined with beautiful homes. Staff was super nice.

Great course

This was a nice course. It's pricey and well equipped. Layout was great. Bunkers everywhere. Course is not difficult but some bunkers are like why would it be right there. Greens were fast and well kept. And some holes have a wild left to right slope. Locker room was nice. complimentary soap and shampoo. Practice area was nice but no place to chip. Carts were quiet with club and ball cleaning tools. Pace of play was nice. Plenty of sand for divots available. On course bathrooms are nice and plentiful. I will go back when another GN deal appears.

This was a decent course in Raleigh. Cart path is awful but greens are fine. The rough is easy to hit out of but hard to find a ball. Front layout was tricky for a first timer. Lots of holes in a small space make the cart path a bit tricky in the front. Almost played the wrong hole at 6 with all of the tee boxes right there. No driving range but nice pitching area and putting area. Carts held up and all the coolers had water. Staff was amazing. I will be going back. Perfect to walk 9 for $20.

Decent

Greens were blazing fast. Tee boxes were nice and the fairways had very few areas that didn't have grass. Carts were quiet and nice and the cart path was in good shape. Will go back in the summer when there are fewer leaves and maybe the greens will soften up. Staff was nice. Driving range was well equipped with chipping and putting but hitting area was torn up when I was there. Very nice course if you are local to the area. IMHO not really worth a long drive if you are not near Knightdale.

Good

This was a fun quick course. Definitely not Pinehurst but excellent value. I will play here with friends but not sure that I would invite out of town family or clients here. I agree with others that you are in people's backyard and the course does wind through a neighborhood. I don't have a problem with this. The cart was governed very low and was not strong but it made it through. It was quiet. The greens on hole 9 have something going on with them. I never saw the course in it's prime but it is now my favorite local course for it's value. I will be going back frequently.
