Don’t go

Friendly staff and great course layout. However the greens were horrible. Majority of them had markings of ground under repair and were recently punched and very sandy. I may go back one day but will not book online unless I call in advance to find out about greens. Price charged not worth the value received.

Greens bad shape

Was first one off at 7am by myself so no issues with pace of players. Great track as far as the layout goes. Fairways were average. Lots of areas that needed mowing. The greens were the worst I’ve played on in 20+ years of playing golf. Very old course as advertised as the oldest in state of Mississippi built in 1908. Greens were multiple types of grass and very long like putting on shag carpet. I had to putt the ball 2-3 times as hard as what you would expect on any normal putt on bent grass or other normal golf course green conditions. Pro shop employee gave be discount so paid 35 instead of online 40 normal price. But honestly would expect to pay only 20’ish for the course conditions.

much different than normal Meadowlands

payed for a single round but was paired up w/ 2 others. we played as a 3-some. That was the only pleasant part of the round. The good company made up for the rest of the awful happenings of the day. We got behind 2 guys playing as the last group in a tournament. First of all, what course schedules a tournament on Mother's Day? Next, it would have been nice to have been informed of the tournament before paying or teeing off. All we got was an apology after hole 4 that it was playing so slow. It would have been nice if the management would have compensated us for the inconvenience with a free round or at least a free greens fee for the next visit. The pace of play was horrible! I noticed at 4 hours we had just finished hole 14. It took over 5 hours to complete the round. There were several bad patches on the greens (at least they did inform me on golfnow.com about the re-working of the greens from the winter harsh weather). but the fairways were average condition at best. There were quite a few dead spots throughout the course. I've played Meadowlands several times before and the course has never been in this poor of a condition, and obviously from the comments above the pace of play was the worst I have seen in a very long time. I was expecting a fairly smooth round due to it being Mother's Day and thought there wouldn't be a lot of people playing. Well, there weren't a lot of people, just several slow pokes holding everyone up. I guess due to the tournament, the standard rule of golf to let a faster group play through did not come into effect for this particular round. Needless to say, this slow play sucked all of the enjoyment out of the round for me. I could not get into a rhythm of any kind to even have a decent round of golf. I'll certainly remember to ask next time if there is a tournament or anything ahead of me that might slow down the pace of play. Certainly the slight savings I got through purchasing through golfnow.com did not make up for the bad experience
