Marysville Golf Club

I bought a hotdeal thru golf now . Unfortunately I only played 9 holes as the course management decision of “ cart path only” which slowed play to a crawl. Plus , I think they did not have push cart rental which would speed play up since they did not opt for 90 degree.

If they would even put the very minimum effort in making the traps playable I would faint . Have been playing here for 10 years and I love the layout and the greens are always decent, but some of us can play fairly well out of sand and like that challenge but they are always unplayable. Don’t use the covid excuse because other course at least run a tractor screen thru the traps occasionally.
As for bratwurst, they have no hot food available ( I don’t call microwaving a hot dog hot food) . They are so understaffed it’s kind of pitiful.

We played here last year midseason and felt the course needed watering, and this season is the same. The greens are in good shape, but some fairways and all of the rough are almost unplayable due to being hard as concrete! The layout is interesting, most holes bearing east-west and not very many trees. The one advantage of being hard is you get a lot of run on shots. Most teeboxes did not have the markers set, so you just picked a spot to tee off from. Also, the carts are very slow!!!

I can't believe I haven't played this Donald Ross (back 9) design since he is my favorite golf course designer. The other holes (roughly front 9) were designed by Hurdzan and Fuzzy Zoeller and they are excellent on their own, bit the real masterpiece are those by Ross. If you have ever played Pinehurst 1,2,3 or Scioto or Columbus CC you can see the design cues from each course, little movement of dirt using the tract as is. Small turtleback greens. Awesome use of the natural flow of the land. The course was also in pristine condition, though a little wet in the low spots. Check out Wikipedia and see the courses designed by Ross in Ohio, there are quite a few on GolfNow. Next year I am playing them all!!!

Played On 9/24/2013We miss the trees!
This course is still one of my top 5 in central Ohio even though the emerald ash borer had killed a lot of trees that made this one of the most beautiful courses as well as one of the best layouts. Greens were a bit slow, but not a problem.

Played On 9/23/2013Fast greens!
Played at 730am on a Monday not realizing front nine greens were being aerated. Dan at the course did a great job and had his workers stop aerating on number two so we could at least start on 3 and not have to play the back nine twice. Course was as usual in fantastic shape with the fast but fair greens. Suggestion on all holes: stay below the pins! Putts will roll fair but far!!

Played On 7/12/2013course drains great, true greens that are great to putt on
We are lucky here in central Ohio to have so many older tracts that once were country clubs that are now public courses. This course was in great shape considering we had flooding two days prior to our round. The negatives about this course are that it is owned and operated by a couple and most times it is horribly understaffed in the clubhouse with one person managing carts and starting as well as the snack bar. The men's locker and restroom had a stench of urine. My partner literally waited to use the restroom on the course and heard others say they waited and used the woods! I hope they read this, because it is a health hazard. Other than that the course is well maintained and a fun course where you can go low.

Have been playing this Kidwell designed gem for 25 years. I love the typical flat open front nine and tight, scenic back nines that typify most of his courses. I see a for sale sign, I just hope it doesn't fall into the wrong hands or start to degrade in course shape.
