Colina Park Golf Course
Played On 03/20/2023We need more short courses like this!
What a joy to play! I was playing with my 80 year old mother-in-law who can’t handle a regulation size course any longer. This course is exactly what the doctor ordered. Short par 3’s, well designed, in great shape. We got around in 90 minutes!
We are coming back!
Carlton Oaks Lodge & Country Club
Played On 02/28/2023Another course with atrocious playing conditions
I’m visiting from out of town. This is the 2nd course in a row with atrocious playing conditions. Tees not cared for. I saw a sign on one hole for “ground under repair.” Are they kidding me? The whole course is ground under repair! Fairways are pretty much non-existent. Some small patches of grass surrounding dirt or dormant grass. Bunkers not playable. The only saving grace are the greens which are not bad. And someone please tell me why this is also the 2nd course that doesn’t offer pull carts? Doesn’t anyone around here like walking a golf course without having to carry their bag for 18 holes?
I can’t say my experience golfing in San Diego has been enjoyable. Perhaps I have to significantly lower my expectations.
Cottonwood Golf Club - Ivanhoe Course
Played On 02/20/2023You get what you pay for but this was worse
I didn’t expect 5 star experience but some basic amenities aren’t out of the question. Wanted a pull cart so I could walk. None left. How about hitting some balls on the range beforehand? Nope, no balls left.
Course conditions? Greens acceptable. The rest of it? Deplorable
Pace was horrific, sooooo slow. I finally gave up after hole 16 and drove to the exit.
Won’t return not worth the aggravations
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, even if your experience wasn’t great. We’re sorry to hear we did not meet your expectations. We will use this as a learning experience on how we can improve.
Chedoke Civic Golf Course - Martin
Played On 09/02/2022Chedoke Martin - good value for the price
Hadn’t played it in years and wasn’t sure what to expect. Considering the price, it’s well worth it. Course has some challenging holes (a few par 4’s on the front 9 are very long). Friendly staff. Course conditions more then acceptable I’ll be back
Mill Run Golf Club - Championship Grist/Wheel Course
Played On 08/16/2022King's Forest Golf Course
Played On 05/10/2022Great Muni in Hamilton
Kings Forest is always a challenge and fun to play but would say this isn't the place for beginners. It requires solid ball striking throughout. Considering the lousy Spring we have had, the course was in good condition especially the greens. Rakes were available in the traps but the standard practice of people not raking traps after use was evident. Only complaint I have is they had 3-4 holes where the regular tee blocks were being renovated and we weren't advised before we booked.
Dragon's Fire Golf Club
Played On 04/12/2022They take care of customers
Always impressed by the staff friendliness here. As well they take action if any group is holding up the rest of the course. Greens were summer time fast and fairways excellent considering it’s April.
Lakeview Golf Course
Played On 08/23/2021Renovations at Lakeview is welcome
Ive been playing Lakeview for decades. Pound for pound, its one of the best public courses in the GTA, and is always in good condition. Having said that, its nice to see there is a major renovation coming next year. over the years, the course has lost a little of its lustre, and some re-designed holes will only add to its storied tradition and playability.
Silver Lakes Golf & Country Club
Played On 05/25/2021Excellent Condition
I haven’t played Silver Lakes in many years and glad I returned. The course was in excellent condition and having an early tee time helped get us around 18 holes in 3 hours 30 minutes. Staff very friendly I’ll be returning
Wyldewood Golf and Country Club
Played On 10/25/2020Now I know why I haven’t played this course before
Not much good to say sorry. Bland design, water hazards built too close to the greens. Not a course that I would return to. Maybe the cold weather had something to do with it
Trafalgar Golf and Country Club
Played On 09/05/2020Good Course conditions return
As many know Trafalgar was a private course a while back. A fire that burned down the club house and rumours of a club sale caused them to lose many members. I played it last year and you could tell it had been neglected the course was not in good shape. Different story this year! Excellent conditions and it allows the challenge of the design to come out. You have to hit the ball solidly and fairly long here to score well so pick tees that suit your game or you will feel like you are out there forever. Pace of play is very good. Greens are smooth and putt well. Unlike many courses, their driving range is open in covid times and it’s included in your green fee. Great value for the bucks.
Mill Run Golf Club - Championship Grist/Wheel Course
Played On 08/23/2020Course routing needs some adjustment
The newest 9 at mill run needs some adjustment. It simply isn’t accommodating to walking the course which I enjoy doing. At least 3 holes have distances between them that are completely unreasonable. It’s like walking 3 extra holes literally. Other than that a fine 27 hole facility with friendly staff and a bunch of players who know how to keep a good pace of play
Hidden Lake Golf Club - Old Course
Played On 05/23/2020Pure greens
Hidden Lake (old course) was a lot of fun today. Greens in pristine smooth condition rolled true and fast. They could use a bit of cutting the rough it was a touch too high in some places. Pace of play was superb we never waited on a single shot
Mill Run Golf Club - Championship Grist/Wheel Course
Played On 05/26/2019Mill Run friendly went well run
Mill Run is good value at a reasonable cost. Very friendly staff and the pace is managed well. Greens in good shape roll true. Some winter kill patches in the fairways but didn’t reduce my enjoyment of the round.
Club at Bond Head - North
Played On 08/07/2018Extremely Hilly
Greens in fabulous shape. Course staff very courteous and professional. Marshall’s keep pace moving. Be prepared for an extremely hilly terrain which is the main reason carts are mandatory. On some holes it borders on the silly. Make sure you check your ego at the door and play the tees that allow you to hit shots with comfort, otherwise this course will eat you up
Thanks for taking the time to review your round with us! You make some great points about the course difficulty and hilly terrain you will see. Glad to hear you enjoyed yourself, and for another 'tamer' challenge, please see our South course for your next round.
Lakeview Golf Course
Played On 05/04/2018Classic design
I’ve played Lakeview for many years. It isn’t long by modern standards but it does require you to think your way around and keep the ball in play. The design of the greens are brilliant and years ago, they had them in great shape with speeds that defended the courses integrity. For the past few years, the greens simply aren’t at the same level or shape. A tough winter has prevented a healthy grass grow and many are bear / dormant and sandy. Fairways are always in good shape. Friendly staff. Always a fun round at Lakeview!
Whirlpool Golf Course
Played On 08/20/2017Get rid of the Canada Geese
Whirlpool is a classic design that should be played at least once. It demands a thinking game and is an enjoyable walk. Two issues remain. First the bunkers look manicured but they lack a good sand base. The result is its difficult to get under the golf ball in the bunkers and you tend to get skulked shots out of them. Second is the huge numbers of Canada Geese that make the course their habitat. You are dodging Geese droppings from holes 1-18. One hole was so bad, I spent more than half my time guiding the geese away from our playing area and the putting green. It's an annoyance that makes a great course less enjoyable
Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. We will let the Superintendent know about the sand depth. As for the geese, yes they can be a nuisance and we do try to stay on top of them. Hard creatures to get rid of safely.
Cherry Downs Golf and Country Club
Played On 08/02/2017Best greens!
As a former member of clublink I had played Cherry Downs on a few occasions. Played it again yesterday and having nothing but great things to say about it. The greens are the best I have seen perhaps in many years. They are firm, lightning fast, but completely fair - no insane undulations. You make a good stroke at the right speed you get rewarded. If not you get penalized. Fairways, bunkers in great shape (only 1 unraked bunker), and the rough is a fair height - you can hit out of it but you won't get the spin needed to hold these greens unless you bounce it short and roll it on. Staff is super friendly and helpful and the halfway house (which is actually after hole 11) is amply supplied. One of the best values for the money out there!!
Mystic Golf Club
Played On 07/31/2017Mystic - forced carries and rough
Hadn't played Mystic in a few years and decided to give it another try. It's a nice design and definitely setup for the more advanced player. This course has a significant number of forced carries over hazards, so if you aren't comfortable with that don't play it. I think the course goes over the top on it though as an example hole 10 at 564 yards is listed on the card as a par 6. It has 2 forced carries and to me if a design has to up the par due to that it's a bit of a gimmick. One thing the course can control is the height of the rough, it was way too high and thick. You miss the fairway by 2 yards and in some cases you have no shot. That's not the type of experience recreational golf should provide. Sorry won't play this course again it takes some of the fun out of playing
Hidden Lake Golf Club - New Course
Played On 04/14/2017Hidden Lake New Course
Good price for the value. In good shape considering winter just ended. Only area that wasn't up to snuff were the bunkers. But it probably needs some post winter maintenance
