Nice layout, conditions improving

The Spur at Northwoods has a nice, challenging layout, and course conditions are good. They host a terrific practice area with a nice, wide, level range, a large practice green, and a short range practice time area for chipping and sand play. The staff are very friendly.

A great day on a great course

We had a great afternoon playing Wyboo for the first time. The course is well laid out at 6395 yds from the whites with perfect over-seeded greens. The course has generously landing areas. I hit mostly driver with two 3-woods off the tee. The par 3s vary in length. The bunkers had a variety of soft and firm sand. Pace of play was fine on a Sat mid-day, finishing in 3:45'. I really enjoy flatter lay outs like Wyboo, and look forward to returning.

Great day at Star Fort Golf

We had a great time at Star Fort today. I played from the white tees at ~6500 yd. The course has relatively open contiguous fairways with most of the holes protected by a dog leg. By hitting over the corners I was able to hit my driver on all non par 3 holes, occasionally playing from as adjacent fairway. Most of the greens are protected by bunkers up front, so accurate approach shots are rewarded. The green size was fairly generous, the condition was very good, and had moderate break on most putts. Bunker condition was excellent. My wife had 3/4 sandies today! All par 3s were longer at 170-185 yds. Absolutely no waiting today. Electric carts and decent paths were nice. Even w/ a one hour drive, we'll be back.

Approach (shot) with caution

We enjoyed the front nine at Indian River GC. Tee shots and fairways are relatively open. The challenge here is the greens. They are fast and true, but the pin positions require paying attention on your approach. The course was uncrowded on a Fall Sat afternoon. This is one of the nicer courses for daily play near Columbia. Due to hilly terrain and distance from green to tee, it is not ideal for walking.

Golf paradise

Beautiful and interesting course with challenges off the tee, and around the green depending on the hole. The staff is extremely service oriented and friendly. The range and practice facilities are great, and the course is maintained in awesome condition. When we play in the evening the course has always been wide open.
