Have played Pine Barrens a number of times and always enjoy the experience despite the lengthy drive from Largo. As usual, the course provided more than enough challenge and was the winner...again. Our group thought the greens were a tad slower than normal but the undulations and the grain made up for any speed issues. Not overly impressed with the condition of the bunkers..know there are lots to be maintained but could be better..and rakes in the carts?? Probably the main reason most have not been raked by players. Know that we had an afternoon tee time on a busy day but the carts we were given should have been retired long ago.
Still plan to return as often as possible.

Last played here 3 years ago due to so/so experience and the travel distance. Heard things were better and decided to try again. Only disappointment was bumpy green conditions due to crab grass/twitch invasion seen first on putting green and then on many of the front nine greens. Didn't seem to be as bad on the back nine. Pace of play negatively affected by 3 Groups of Tourists/Visitors in front of us but improved late in the round when a Pro Shop employee arrived on the 10th tee and found a 2 hole gap at #12. There was no beverage cart on the course; stopped at the turn and 1 beer purchase took 10 minutes; arrived at 10th tee to find 3 groups waiting.
Overall have always liked the layout especially tough finishing holes. Will likely be back sooner rather than later.

Have played here a number of times in the winter months over the last 8/10 years. Layout has always provided plenty of challenge.Can get busy and slows down on the weekends but usually acceptable. Last few years have seen a number of improvements to the golf course with new greens which are really good now. Clubhouse was upgraded throughout with a great bar area and new washrooms...even the on course bathrooms were recently updated. They are trying and it shows. Had a Ranger this time as well which is a welcome addition. He even talks to you. Keep up the good work.

Pleasantly surprised that the course was not very busy considering the time of year and perfect weather. We were allowed to start 30 minutes early and finished in about 3 hours. Only encountered a 3some who we passed at the turn. Course layout plenty challenging with water in play nearly every hole and strategically placed deep fairway bunkers, especially on the back 9. Too bad a lot of those bunkers are in such poor shape and getting into a few were the only negative to the round. Some areas were still a tad wet from the heavy rains of over a week ago. Going to Bradenton from Largo is a bit of a hike but the overall experience was well worth it and we will try to return.

Have played here several times before including early last month. Surprised to see course much wetter than expected. Heavy rains 4/5 days ago still lingering and several holes should have been "cart path only" in our opinion. Then to top it off the weather man was wrong again and a storm that was not expected until later in the day showed up on hole # 8 and chased us off after # 12. With heavy rains expected next few days probably won't be very playable for a while.
Still love the course and the people and will be back, but only if it's been dry for a while.

Hadn't played here in several years; would say overall conditions have gone down. Greens OK but fairways and tee boxes taken over by weeds, especially crabgrass. Layout is still very challenging and course could be a lot better. Staff very friendly and kudos to the Ranger (yes, they had one...rare anywhere these days) who proactively updated on the situation and expected pace of play. A busy Saturday but no real issue with pace of play.

Course was in great shape as usual; staff helpful;beautiful day; starter was friendly but could have been more forceful about combining groups; too many 2somes;contributed to slow round of 5 hours; busy day as well but didn't need to be as protracted; otherwise a first class faciluty.

Last played 3 years ago. Found in excellent condition throughout. Plenty of water and waste bunkers in this Arnold Palmer layout. Pace of play only issue which in my opinion is due to difficulty of the back nine opening holes which led to a 2 hour 40 minute 9 versus a OK 2 hour 10 minute front 9. Worth playing again but if it looks busy don't expect a 4 hour round.

Welcoming Staff and started on time despite a logjam at 1st tee. Pace of play a little slow @ 4 1/2 hours but course was busy and not an easy course. Not a bad layout with generous landing areas and visually mostly easy to see the routing. Some tees and fairways need TLC but aligned with the pricing. Greens were exceptionally quick and challenging which would be the primary reason for returning to see if revenge is capable second time around.

First Class development and golf course amenities made for a memorable day. Allow an extra 10 minutes to clear the security check point at entrance as it was a little slow when we entered at mid day.
We played 10-19 which were very playable with nice layouts and in excellent condition throughout. We were paired with another twosome who had played before which helped with navigation but for the most part the course was easy to follow. Greens had nice speed and challenging to read. Will be back and hopefully have chance to play other 9.

Had the course recommended by another golfer and it was as advertised. Friendly greetings from Pro Shop and on course Staff. Layout challenging and interesting as course is laid out throughout wilderness type setting with numerous sand based cart paths through dense vegetation. Adjacent housing seems totally removed from the golf course. Greens were excellent and equally tough to read. Overall very playable but several holes will be played easier second time around. Pace of play a little slow but probably due to specific grouping in front of us versus course difficulty. Will return.

Played it on a cool day early after frost delay. Understandably quiet and we played a speedy 3+ hour round. Course is in great shape after fall overseeding complete and regular cutting every day. Overall a very enjoyable experience after sun warmed up. Not excited about valet parking arrangements and pricey refreshments from the beverage cart..which give her credit she was on the course at 10:00 A.M.

For new course in great shape, club house complete and upscale practice facility. Courteous and organized staff. Housing development will be under construction for several years but no real affect on golf course. Generous fairways with noticeable slopes and contours but still lots of opportunities to get in trouble. Greens are "oversized" especially one par 3 (#12?) which is largest ever seen. Not sure Arnie would have approved something that big.Probably takes 5 guys 2 hours to cut it everyday!! There are several short holes from the Palmer tees (white) and next time I would use the Blue tees on those holes to add some length (2,6,13,16 and 17). Need to play it more than once to get a feel. Will definitely return.

Have played both courses here a number of times. Current ownership has done a great job upgrading and maintaining both and it's always great to go back. We had a perfect weather day with little traffic on the course that affected us. The Lakes course is harder than the Forest and it was in good shape today. Greens were deceptively quick.

Golf Now and the Course had highlighted overseeding and "cart path only" which for the most part were fine and as expected. Several greens had patch work done which when combined with overseeding made for "so so" putting experience which was reason for mid rating of course conditions. Actually rest of the course was pristine and well manicured. Nice resort setting for sure. Kudos to the Ranger/Player Assistance guy who helped manage a sticky situation with Saddlebrook Academy students/players were scheduled on front and back nine just as we were making the turn earlier than they expected we would. All in all a good day.

Have played a number of times over past 10 years. Very challenging course due to tight driving off tee.
All aspects better than last few years, especially tees and greens. Welcome surprise and will be back.

As a winter resident in Florida I play numerous area courses and even though this is almost an hour's drive have played here 3/4 times every year since it opened.Always find the course in excellent condition and latest trip was no different. Lots of construction noise and dust (especially this trip with 25/30 MPH winds) but it's bearable. Course is very playable but challenging, especially the greens which can be tough to read and remember from one round to the next. It's right up there for me for favorite places to play.

Have played here many times over past 10 years, most recent was several months ago when conditions were better. current greens have deteriorated with slow, bumpy conditions seen yesterday. A bit of a surprise and can only assume that current dry spell is having an effect. Last visit saw tee boxes updated and overseeded but currently a number are in tough shape, again probably the result of the drought. Love this course and expect it will be better in future.

Need to hit it straight all day long. Great layout with "mucho water". Course in fine shape and greens rolling quick and true. Have played here 4 times and need A Game to score anywhere near my handicap. Love the challenge. Had great company including couple from Czech Republic. Starter/Ranger friendly and helpful. Only issue was after we finished near 7:00 PM clubhouse/pro shop locked up and had to use washroom facilities in cart barn.Overall great day

Have played here a number of times over past 5 years and always have enjoyed the course and the staff. Wish it was closer to home as would seriously consider a Winter membership. Greens were re-done in summer of 2015(?) and currently best that I've seen. Keep up the good work!
