The Vineyard at Escondido
Played On 01/26/2018Lovely course but painfully slow
This is a lovely course in great shape. The starter was very friendly & talked us through every hole with sound advice. He advised blue tees for 10 handicap & under. We watched the fourball in front tee off, playing from the blue tees. Only one of them was a good golfer. Throughout the round one of them barely passed the red tee box with his drive. We explained this to the course Ambassador twice who admitted they were really slow, but did nothing about it! The round took over 5 hours. We befriended the group behind us as we were frequently on the same tee box waiting to tee off. Indeed we played the 17th (par 3) & 18th as a 5 ball & still nearly caught them up. I do appreciate that slow play is an issue everywhere but the management need to do something when they can. We have played 6 courses this holiday in the San Diego area & this was the worst by far for pace of play.
Welk Resort San Diego - Fountains Executive Course
Played On 01/24/2018Executive means short course
As visitors from the UK we didn’t recognise the term Executive course, so we were disappointed when we arrived to find it is a short course of mainly par 3 holes. However the course is in good shape & we really enjoyed the company of our playing partners. Pace of play was slow. If you want to practice your short game & have plenty of time, then this is the course for you.
The Preserve Golf Club
Played On 01/22/2014Poor condition
Would not return to play this course. Although the greens were OK the fairways were in a very poor state. Everything from the tee markers to the refuse bins looked tired and jaded and in need of an update.
