WildHorse Golf Club
Played On 12/29/2017Winter Conditions In Vegas
We played this course during the Christmas-New Year week. The course was only overseeded on the tee boxes and the greens including a small fringe. The remainder of the course was brown. The fairways had been mowed short when the grass was green and this made it difficult to get under the ball. For a municipal course it has a nice layout. I would consider playing the course again when the grass is green. There are a couple of spots that the tee boxes are close and so are the landing areas. This was a little interesting as there were balls from the wrong tee boxes landing in your fairway even with the tree separations. The sand traps have above average sand for a municipal course. Where the carts drive the course will be in tough shape by the time the grass greens again it that is a couple months away.
Desert Pines Golf Club
Played On 12/30/2014Winter Conditions
This course is well maintained even in the middle of winter conditions. The fairways are narrow. All fairways are separated with mounds of dirt to give you a "all by yourself feeling." The staff was helpful. The fairways were green and the ruff brown. There is minimal water on the course but it will always except that pushed ball. The wind was blowing which added to the challenge. Each hole is named. It was a fun day.
Las Vegas National Golf Course
Played On 12/29/2014Closest to the Strip
This course is tucked in a neighborhood close to the strip. It is an older course with mature trees which protects it from the winds of the desert. Most of the fairways are wide but the water is strategically placed and can be hazardous to your game. We played three middle of the cost range courses and this was our favorite. The fairways were mowed extremely short which made our playing a little more difficult. Las Vegas covers a lot of territory and we opted not to play the courses on the west edge of town. After playing this course once I would like to play it again sometime. Visitor.
Boulder City Municipal Golf Course
Played On 12/27/2014Winter play
Played after Christmas and it was unusually chilly in the Vegas area. The greens looked a little long but they were pretty quick and putted true. There were leaves along the sides of the fairways but is is winter conditions. The price was reasonable and the course is a little nicer than some municipal courses. We enjoyed our play. The back nine is a little more exciting if you are just playing nine holes.
