This Arnold Palmer designed course is challenging with a lot of water in play as well as bunkers and elevation changes. The pace of play was very slow as the First Coast Amateurs were there for a practice round and they took full advantage of the opportunity. A five hour round is painful when you have to wait on almost every shot. The greens aren’t in the best shape as they seem to have a fungus that needs to be addressed.

The new owner has put a lot of funds into the golf course itself. The course was in good shape, pace of play was good and carts were clean and well maintained. Not much stock in the Pro Shop. Grill room was not inviting, odd setup. No hot tea available on a very cold November morning. Starter was attentive but unable to answer questions regarding the course setup for the day.

We hadn't played the course in a year and a half. Greens had all been replaced and while very hard (only 3 months old) they were in great shape and rolled true. The bunkers were not in the best shape, wet and hard. The course signage was poor and the golf shop staff was very uninformative, glad we had been there before and knew our way around. No cart staff, no starter and driving range was very beat up.

This golf course is tough but a lot of fun to play. The nature surronding the course is awesome. We joined the club the next day after playing. Great deal for seasonal membership for both a single or family plan. The cart boys and restaurant staff are super friendly and helpful.

The staff and golf course were excellent but it took us 5 3/4 hours to play 18 holes. Called the pro shop from the 5th tee when there were 3 foursomes on that tee but the pace of play did not improve at all. Thankfully we played with another couple from Pittsburgh and enjoyed their company very much. Would highly recommend the restaurant for happy hour or a meal. Service was good and food was excellent.

Thank goodness we had someone with us that had played the course before. Lost a lot of golf balls. The green surrounds were very wet, felt like all the par 4's were the exact same length and that par 3's were squeezed into the course to make up the 18 holes. Driving range and putting green were in good shape. Starter was able to get us off earlier than our tee time which we appreciated very much, he was knowledgeable, friendly and a good course ambassador. Assistance with carts was non-existent both at the start and finish of our round.

We really enjoyed playing Bear Creek and were pleasantly suprised when we were each handed a voucher for a free meal in the dining room. Excellent burger, quick service and pleasant atmosphere. Good practice facilities. Quick, professional staff in Pro Shop. Course was good for all level of players. Beautiful homes surround the course but are well set back in the Carolina pine forest.

Grass had not yet started to grow so winter conditions were in effect but an enjoyable round on a narrow, tough course. Hard rain two nights before made it wet but the course drains pretty well except for a couple of the sand traps. A couple of the greens had weeds growing which told us that course maintenance staff had some work to do.

Played this course twice this week. It is not laid out for the average golfer. Very beautiful but challenging layout. Cart path only rule on second day made it even more challenging as it is a very hilly course.
