Lago Mar Country Club
Played On 07/28/2018Excellent CC Venue
A delightful round of golf at the Lago Mar Country Club course. The golf course staff were very friendly and accommodating. The golf course website has all the information on each hole giving a very detailed overview and flyover: http://www.lagomarcc.com/golf/hole-descriptions/ .
The course provides a good challenge for all golfers. The greens were in excellent shape and rolled very well. All the tee boxes were nicely cut with markers labeled 1, 2 ,3, 4, or 5. Most tee boxes were flat with ample room to place your ball. The fairways provided a beautiful green view giving the course a pristine look. The rough was cut to about 2-3inches, which is not terribly penalizing. The carts were in excellent shape with sand/seed mixture for divots. The player's practice area is near the pro shop. There is a large putting green adjacent to hole #1. Be aware of the green iguanas on the course.. they will provide an audience on your tee shots or final putt. An excellent "cared for" country club with great amenities and a friendly professional staff.
Wentworth Golf Club

This was a lovely outing as a first time player of this course. The staff was friendly and provided good recommendations on how to approach the course for us first timers. The starter kept everyone on track so that players were going off on time. The greens were true and rolled at a medium speed. The practice green was representative of the course greens. The fairways in the front nine were tight - a lot of big trees & woods on both sides. The back nine holes had a lot of water but more open than the front. We played the tee boxes for 6053 yards. Ball placement in the fairway is necessary for the approach shots into the greens. If you get out of position on the fairways, then you will have to shape a shot into the green. Note: Many holes penalize you if you go over the green. Get the course booklet if you do not have an app that guides you around the course. This is nice course for this time of the year. The staff was friendly and professional. Electric carts are nice, without GPS. We paid a fair price for the course conditions.
Heritage Isles Golf and Country Club

A very enjoyable Sunday morning round at the Heritage Isle Golf and Country Course! The golf course staff were super nice and the starter did a great job of keeping everyone organized and on time. The green fee is advertise as a member for the day. The golf course score card has all the key information for the pin flags and hole layout, playing 6972 yards from the back tees. The course provides a good challenge for intermediate golfers. The greens were punched @ 2 weeks prior to our round and you can still see the marks on the greens. They rolled well, but ball speed was not consistent from green to green. We found one or two greens that had problem patches areas around the edges, but the rest were in great shape taking into consideration they had been punched, sanded, and rolled. All the tee boxes were nicely cut. We played the blue tees and white tees on the Par 3s. Most tee boxes were flat with ample room to place your ball. The fairways provided a beautiful green view giving the course a pristine look. There are 150-yard pole markers for the par 4s and par 5. The rough was cut to about 2-inches, which is not terribly penalizing. The carts were in good shape with sand/seed mixture for divots and a rake for the sand bunkers. The cart girl was superior nice and had a good selection of reasonably priced items on the cart. The turkey wrap purchased by my cart partner was rated“good”. The practice area is near the pro shop and Hole-1 tee and uses floater balls. I am not a fan of floater balls and water targets; however, it is does the job of getting you warmed up for your round. There is a large putting and chipping green adjacent to the hitting area. Note: I dropped a putter head cover from “Grey Hawk Golf Course” between parking lot and practice area. It has not been turned-in. Therefore, I caution leaving clubs unattended at the drop bag area. Overall, I highly recommend this course for golfers. Once the greens heal, this will remain a top ten public course in the Tampa Bay area.
Goldsboro Municipal Golf Course
Played On 07/15/2015Course is in Great Shape
The course just finished with the Wayne County Amateur competition. The greens, fairways, and tee boxes are in great shape. You will enjoy the wide open features. Great value for the money. The greens are receptive to balls landing and sticking. Now is the time to play this course. You will not be disappointed. Weekends will probably be slower for Saturday morning tee times.
Three Eagles Golf Course
Played On 06/14/2015Course Has Lost IT Greens
A once good military course has gone down hill sharply. Course, practice areas and greens are not in good shape. Greens were overtaken by poa annua grass. Some greens are mostly dirt. Fairways are decent. The practice facility ball machine is out of service and night driving range use is not available due to club house closing at dusk. Shrubs have overgrown practice facility. Currently this course is good for beginners and not your advance players.
You are correct the greens did have a poa annua problem but they are in much better condition. I am the new GM/Pro and I hope you come back and play our course again. The conditions have gotten much better and we are making things better every day.
