I was fortunate to be put with three most agreeable individuals- Russ, who played off the back tees (!!) and two “normal” golfers.
However, the pace of play was glacially slow and we had to wait on almost every shot.
Much of the front nine curved between construction sites and there was evidence of incipient construction on much of the back nine.
The greens and fairways were in good condition but this didn’t compensate for the poor surroundings.

I played from the blue tees - just over 6,000 yards. The course was well set up and there were no “impossible” carries over the many lakes.
My first time but it won’t be the last.

The golf clubhouse is really just an extension of the Marriott hotel, so there are no dedicated golf staff at arrival and the atmosphere is more akin to a main line station - all far too busy and chaotic. I had to park over 300 yards from the golf clubhouse.
The course - from the green tees - was challenging for an intermediate (18 h'cap) golfer, especially first time of asking, when several holes required prior knowledge of where the ball needed to go.

This was the first time that I played this course (I usually play at Celebration) and I will definitely be back. I played with two guys from Indianapolis who come down every year with a golf tour. They told me that Falcons Fire had always been included in previous tours but not this year, so they flew down a day early just so that they could play the course again - and I quite understand why.
The course was challenging but very fair - no horrid surprises, hidden hazards etc - and in great condition.

This is one of my favourite courses and this is the third year that we have returned whilst staying locally.
I can survive without cart gps (!!) but complimentary bottled water would be very welcome.
Yesterday we were told at registration that the bar would stay open until 6.30pm but, having just played 18 holes with a couple so charming that we all agreed to have a post-round drink or two, at 6.05pm we were told by the young lady in the bar that she had closed five minutes earlier. Not a nice way to end the day.

The fairways, tees and greens looked as if they hadn’t seen a drop of water in months. A great shame, as the course layout - despite the proximity of the airfield - had some interesting holes.

We hadn’t checked out the website before booking, so were initially rather disappointed when we saw that the course was so short. However, we soon changed our minds - the course was in excellent condition; the vegetation was spectacular; and there was more than enough in the way of hazards (especially water carries) to compensate for the lack of distance.
Best of all, we were round in well under four hours - a welcome change to the usual five hour Florida Golf.
