Mountain Ranch Golf Club at Fairfield Bay
Played On 08/28/2023Really nice course
Nice course. Conditions were good, greens rolled true and fair, but hard to read. Front 9 layout really nice. Back nine nice as well, but a little more sharp doglegs and winding around the mountains. Hit through the fairway a couple of times. Overall really good and look forward to going back again someday.
Indian Hills Golf Resort
Played On 08/27/2023I would play it again
I didn't love the layout - all the sharp doglegs. The par 4s all Seemed a bit repetitive. But it was still fun. Greens were shaggy and painfully slow. I guess letting the grass grow out due to the very hot weather. Three temporary greens. But the rest of the conditions were pretty good.
But in my opinion, courses like this need to be supported and kept alive. I would just suggest they work on speeding up the greens.

Played On 06/12/2023Nice Round - but Greens slow and rough
Played on June 19, 2023. Definitely enjoyed the round. Course fairways and tee boxes were in very good shape, but the greens not so much. A few of them were very patchy with major bare spots and grass coming in. Also they were very slow and difficult to put since they were so shaggy and bumpy. Perhaps not mowed the morning we played. Maybe not mowed to help them come back in. Hopefully they'll work these issues out and get them back in shape. Only my 3rd time to play course since the renovation a few years ago, I definitely liked the layout and enjoyed the round.
The Pointe Golf Course
Played On 04/21/2023Nice Mountain Course - enjoyable round
The greens were in great shape and rolled true. The fairways were a bit ragged here and there, possibly from last year's drought. Still early in the spring and the grass was still coming in. I liked the layout, but mountain golf is always a bit trickly and at time the landing zones seemed too slopped or narrow. On a couple of my best drives - I hit through the fairway. But again, that is mountain golf. Didn't score great, but that was on me :)
Inn of the Mountain Gods
Played On 07/06/2020Great scenery, beautiful greens, good fairways, a few questionable tree placements
I played the course today and enjoyed the scenery, the course, and the conditions. The greens were wonderful and rolled true. Reading the mountain greens is another story - very challenging. Two or three times the putts broke the opposite of what I read. Fault mine, of course - but a made a few as well. The fairways were in good condition in most places. Some drought damages spots, but not bad anywhere.
I played the white tees - still recovering from shoulder surgery - and a few times there didn't seem to be a landing place off the tees - hitting drives 250 to 275.
I didn't care for the tree placement in the middle of some fairways. Sure some can be strategic, but for me - too many. Hole 14 (a par 5) in particular has a huge tree right in middle of the fairway about 50-60 yards from the green. I had played a second shot to about 100 yards out around a blind dogleg, but had to punch a driver as an approach shot from the right side of the fairway. I had to play under the tree.

Played On 05/21/2016Pretty Good - Greens hopefully on the way back
I thought the course was pretty good. I'm not from Florida, and don't know the weather situation, but the course seems to be getting the care and maintenance it needs. The greens need work, but they look to be on the way up. The seemed to be filling it. The day we played they had been pretty heavily sanded, so the experience was not great, but it certainly looked to be needed.
I though the layout was good - narrow off the tees.
Pecan Lakes Golf Course
Played On 05/01/2016Good, but conditions slipping
We played on a Sunday afternoon. Not many people on the course. The greens have slipped quite a bit from the last time I played there. Pretty bumpy and patchy. Maybe too much rain over the last 18 months. Hopefully they will get better.
Overall the course is still enjoyable. They do keep large patches of uncut tall grass as hazards. I'm not sure why they choose to do this. Some of it is low lands, but on the whole it made the course harder than I think it needed to be. Maybe a bit contrived.
On the whole, it seems the course is not getting played that much and may be suffering from a reduced maintenance budget. But it is still good - for what we paid, it was a good deal.
Thank you for your review and for playing on June 19. We apologize for the condition of the greens during your round, as it seems they were patchy and not properly maintained. Your feedback is valuable to us, and we will work to address these issues to improve the overall experience. We appreciate your compliments on the course layout and are glad to hear that you still enjoyed your round.
