Corica Park - South Course
Played On 11/20/2023Best in East Bay
Corica South a true 18 hole challenge. Tee boxes were perfectly flat, fairways in great shape and greens were nice. Only bit of feedback on the greens is that it seems that the head greenskeeper is not a golfer. We were 2nd group out at 7:00 on a Monday, there un-repaired ballmarks across all of the greens. Based on the 5 star experience the course had provided an all other aspects it seems the person in charge of greens needs to get the staff out of their vehicles and have them to on foot work. I’m still giving Corica a 5 star review as I paid $70 for a wonderful morning of 18 holes of golf in 4 hrs. On the back 9 there also are several holes where eucalyptus trees have hanging branches in the fairway / need to be trimmed back big time. I’ll be back and enjoyed my round.
Monarch Bay Golf Club - Tony Lema Course
Played On 11/19/2023Rundown course
Check in - they don’t want me there - showed no care. It was like my $90 was nothing - just another golfer….
Range - totally run down. Entire landing area is dirt. Each range stall has old hitting mat and no rubber tee to hit driver. Typical for an ownership group that could care less about “experience” or value to cost.
Course - all tee boxes / all of them no exageration wasn’t flat. These tee boxes have never been redone since being built. All have been taken over by crabgrass and the greeskeeping staff seems to think this is how they should be kept.
Fairways were much the same as the tee boxes. Weedy and many areas of swamp with broken irrigation.
Greens were okay - probably the best part of this D- course.
Speed / pace of play. Teed off at 9am on a Sunday. 5 hr round. No Marshall keeping pace.
On course amenities - no beers of food offered on course. With all of the waiting they could have at least offered me a $10 beer to buy.
Net/Net - this is a hard pass moving forward. A true D- Beter option is Corica Park cheaper and much much better course and experience very close by.
Mill Valley Golf Course
Played On 05/16/2020101 year old 9 hole municipal golf course with very moderate rates. The greens are very well maintained and hold most all shots. 4th hole may be one of the most difficult par 4's you'll ever encounter and the walk off the green is the most beautiful view of Mt. Tam in the entire county. Heed warning when playing in a rainy winter season - it will be sloppy out there as the drainage needs work / this is unfortunately true & mentioned in many reviews of the course. Golf for 20 bucks in the Bay Area is unheard of & with that comes a few mud balls, daisy fields mid fairway and a tee box or two that may not be tour quality but all in all big big value here at MV9. Guys in the shop are great, always plenty of cold beer for purchase and it's a fabulous walk through the redwoods.
