Foxfire Resort & Golf Club - Red Fox Course
Played On 12/24/2015Great course at great price
I played this course for the first time and was not disappointed! It was a day after heavy rainfall and therefore cart path only, but overall the round was great. The greens and fairways were in great shape, and the fairways were only slightly waterlogged in some places--much better than expected. The tee boxes were also in good condition. Overall, excellent. I will definitely return!
The only negative was that the range balls were in poor condition (dirty, some dead and cracked).
Coyote Lakes Golf Club
Played On 12/13/2015No real range balls, forced to start early
This course left a bad taste in my mouth for two main reasons. First, the range balls are not real golf balls! They are some sort of yellow plastic balls. There was no indication of this at the pro shop, and since this was my first time playing the course I had no idea. I was not pleased that I wasted my money on them. Second, my tee time was at 1:08 and I got to the course around 12:45. As soon as I left the pro shop around 12:50 after checking in, it was announced that it was a 10 minute call until I was due on the tee box. I though that was odd, as per my watch I had over 15 minutes. Literally 5 minutes later, I got called to the tee box. Not only was I rushed but they were completely off time-wise. Terrible. The course itself was in okay condition, but given that it was winter and therefore in peak season for AZ golf, it wasn't great. I will not be back.
Please email me directly at coyotelakes@outlook.com to discuss this further. Thank you!
Coldwater Golf Club
Played On 11/29/2015Great condition at good price
The course was in very good shape. Fairways and greens were excellent, and rough was long but well kept. Frost delay delayed my tee time by about 30 minutes, but the staff kept the pace moving and overall things were excellent.
Foothills Golf Club
Played On 05/25/2015Fairways in terrible shape
This is my third time playing this course, but the first during the off-season. It was never in great shape, but this time it was terrible--so bad that I will not be going back. Multiple fairways were covered in dirt and were missing huge patches of sod, and most of the greens were patchy and covered in hard grass seed. If that wasn't bad enough, the group in front of us (four some) was so bad that there was literally a four group hold-up, and no ranger on the course. I will not be back, not even for the <$20 summer rate.
Vistal Golf Club
Played On 03/09/2015Friendly staff, so-so condition
I've played Vistal many times over the past few years, and the past two times I've been there in the last six months, the quality of the course seems to have gone downhill. The fairways were either wet and squishy, or brown and dry. No longer are they lush and green. Greens and tee boxes were in good shape, and bunkers were in great shape. Range and putting green were in good condition, and the staff member who checked us in was very friendly and knowledgeable. For the price paid, I certainly would recommend the course, though it's disappointing to see how the fairways have gone downhill so much.
Hillcrest Golf Club at Sun City West
Played On 12/31/2014Decent course for price paid
This was my first time playing this course, and I played in a twosome and was not paired up. We were behind two foursomes and the pace was pretty quick. The course itself was in fair condition as the greens and tee boxes had some patchy spots, and some greens were covered in goose p**p and leaves, which made putting tough. The fairways and rough were in pretty good shape, so overall, not a bad place to play.
Falcon Golf Club
Played On 10/12/2014Nice, but lots of mosquitos
This was my first time playing Falcon, and I was expecting a so-so course for the price I paid. However, I was nicely surprised! The fairways and tee boxes were in good shape, and the bunkers were mostly soft and playable. Some greens had some brown spots, but overall the conditions were good. Four out of five par threes played long, but there were plenty of shorter par fours to make up for it. The only negative was that the back nine seemed to have lots of mosquitoes. I don't know how much a course can control that, but my buddy and I rushed through the nine to avoid being bitten to death--I should have known something was up when the clubhouse had cans of bug spray for sale!
Ken McDonald Golf Course
Played On 08/24/2014Slow Day, but Great Course
I've played this course many times as I used to live just down the road, and it's one of my favorite places for a quick round on a fairy easy course. Unfortunately, the pace today was incredibly slow as the course was very busy and it was quite hot. There was a ranger, but not much he could do as all groups seemed to lag. For the heat of summer, the course was in GREAT shape. Unlike many other AZ courses, this course had green fairways and tee boxes, and well-manicured and groomed greens. A great value for a great course, I would definitely return.
Villa de Paz Golf Course
Played On 02/16/2014Very slow, sub-par conditions
I had never played at this course before but a friend recommend it to me as an affordable place. When I checked in, I was told the course was running about 10-15 minutes behind; we teed off 20 minutes after our tee time. The pace was INCREDIBLY slow in the beginning and it took us 2 hours to play four holes. There was certainly no marshall to speed things up, and I don't know if the groups ahead were inexperienced or the course overbooked tee times, but it was brutal. Course condition were so-so, definitely not well kept. Greens and fairways were mostly green and grassy, not much time or money put into tee boxes or rough. I probably would not play here again.
The Bluff Golf Links
Played On 11/4/2013Quiet course
Overall, my dad and I had a good time at this course. It was incredibly quiet, and we did not encounter more than two other groups the whole day. The course was in pretty good shape, however some of the greens had many sandy patches which made putting very difficult. However, the quiet nature of the course and the friendliness of the staff, combined with the incredibly low price I got through GolfNow, would definitely have me return.
Bear Creek Golf Complex - Bear Course
Played On 10/20/2013Good course in good shape
I played this course just after over seeding so it was cart path only. The tee boxes, greens, and fairways were in very good shape, just how I would expect after over seeding. Staff were friendly and welcoming, and the pace of play was good. The bunkers were a bit hard and not very filled, but overall for the price I paid ($28/person), a great value. I would play again.
Hi "Tray7588210" Thank you so much for the excellent review! Hope to see you out on the course in the near future.
