The Links at Stillwater Golf & Country Club
Played On 06/03/2020First Time On - WILL BE BACK!
I've played a number of courses around Oklahoma, including the Links counterparts in OKC and Norman (I live in Norman) and saw a hot deal come up for $10 so I jumped on it and headed to Stillwater with my girlfriend (who is a very beginning level golfer, but I decided this would be a good time to get her on a somewhat nice course.) For both of us it came up to $27.90 and I have a coupon code for $20 off so we got on for relatively free. I was stunned at the course when compared to the Links at Norman or the Links at OKC. In Norman, you are constantly surrounded by apartment buildings, but here in Stillwater, you almost forget you're playing at an apartment complex. The winding creeks and ponds give this place a feel as though you're no longer in Oklahoma, and it was amazing. I will say, especially with the opening holes, this course is rather difficult, even for golfers who are somewhat consistent. I feel as though if I went back now, after playing it once, my decision making would be greatly improved. But I found myself putting the driver back in the bag, even for most of the par 5's (especially on the front). But despite the difficulty, the course presents itself phenomenally, and really was beautiful.
MY ONLY COMPLAINT - The bathrooms were closed (possibly due to COVID-19, but not sure) so we had to use a porta-potty, which was all the way on the other side of the course from the clubhouse. But I imagine this will be fixed soon :)
Thanks for a great round, Stillwater!
