It is fall in Michigan, and many courses have aerated their greens and their tees. This often makes putting a waste of time. Indian springs Metropark golf course is in excellent shape. You cannot tell that they have aerated their greens. Your ball runs through and doesn’t bounce all over the place. We play golf during the middle of the day, and were able to finish in under 3 1/2 hours. Fall is an excellent time in Michigan to play golf.

This course is kept in great shape. You are not searching through piles of leaves to find your ball. Even the rough is clean. Can’t wait to get back for another round.

From the very 1st hole, I knew I was in for an experience. Many of the greens were elevated 5 to 10 feet above the fairways. Forget about using the paved cart paths. My back still hurts thinking about them. Many people complain about courses in the city of Detroit but this course is just as fair. Hole 11 is a curved path along a side street, many cars must get hit. Yes we only paid $13 each but I would not have paid more. This is the second course in Grand Blanc that was a little better than a farm pasture, and this is the City known for the Buick Open. I can't recommend this place. A beginner would just get frustrated, while an experienced golfer would wonder why this place gets played. There are many other courses to experience before I will return.

The Jewel has two courses. We played on the Onyx. It was a very rough fairway. You had to drive your cart very slow. There were very few smooth runways. 50% of the greens were in decent shape. There was a large hole in one & there were patches of weed grass, cut short, on most.
The most frustrating thing was the pace of play. We were waiting everywhere. On the tees, on the fairways, everywhere. It was taking 20 -25 minutes per hole & we were a twosome.
We talked to the Ranger & he shrugged & drove off. Guys were wasting time looking for lost ball or waiting because they thought they might drive the ball 250 yds consistently (LOL)
I wont go back even if it is a $5.00 special.

This is one of the two best courses in Northwest Oakland County. The other is a Oakland County course a few miles further north. This course will challenge you but not stress you out as if you were a pro playing on Sundays. The Metro Parks set aside adequate land for a great layout. You dont feel as if you were "shoehorned" into a small field. Yes I might lose a ball or two but then I'm not a pro.The refreshment cart is always out & about. You dont wait long unless you're playing at 7:00 AM.
