Stoneybrook Golf Club
Played On 02/24/2024Surprised at conditions.
Course played easier than expected but generally in good shape. Pricey but that’s golf these days. Nice to have speakers and charger in cart but what’s with no cups at water cooler? Buy water in plastic bottle is better for environment? Don’t think so.
Golf Club At Terra Lago - North Course
Played On 03/16/2022Last time
This will be last time I will golf there. I have been coming to TL for 10 years and every year it gets worse. Bunkers were total disaster, staff seemed disinterested, construction detours unmarked, Poana everywhere around greens and rock hard non receptive greens.
Disappointed
After booking 3 tee times at a rather expensive amount I was very disappointed with the conditions of the range and course. The turf on the range was spotty at best, the tee boxes were in poor condition and the fairways were rock hard and domed to feed the unkept rough. My guest were unimpressed as they had played the course before and we all agreed that what previously was a go to course has become a never again course. Too bad.
Bear Creek Golf Club
Played On 04/13/2019At one time this was a good course
Great layout but minimal maintenance has reduced the joy factor. Bunkers not very good, greens are ok, tee boxes uneven and worn. There are better courses for the money.
The Golf Club at Hilton Head Lakes
Played On 04/05/2019Great course when it grows up
Lots and lots of potential. The layout is fair and no two holes are the same. Greens were ok but not tricky so could be much faster. Made you think off the tee box, some risk / rewards decisions and always a bale out if required.
Indian Springs Golf Club
Played On 03/26/2019Fun, easy and fair
Course was in great condition but the range was washed out so that was disappointing but not the fault of mgmt. it’s not long so go back on the tees for more challenge. Greens are in great shape and not tricky so you can make some puts. Played as threesome in 3.5 hours, could have been quicker if needed, no one behind us, foursome ahead kept great pace. You don’t need driver on many holes if you want to play to avoid bunkers but you can also bomb away if you want, very open landing areas. I’m a 8 handicap and shot par. After game beer on patio was also very enjoyable.
Golf Club At Terra Lago - North Course
Played On 03/25/2019Slow but fun
There was a tournament on the course before we teed off so we were a half hour behind, poor planning, should have allowed gap before tee times resumed. No marshals and groups of kids were wandering around the course so not well managed. By the time we finished the bar was closed and no one to clean clubs. Golf itself was fun and greens a challenge so if you can deal with the pace, it can be fun. Avoid the bunkers, they are crusty!
Aguila Golf Course
Played On 04/07/2017Good for a Muni
The course was a little rough but still played fair. Nothing great in the layout, a few short holes that only made sense if they ran out of development money. Range ok at best, many balls were beyond usable but greens reflect quickness of course. Pace of play was a reflection of skill of golfers ahead and lack of starter, "go when you want". When the twosome ahead can't get around in under 4 hours, it gets old real quick. I would suggest the course as a last resort, and the price is great, that would make it a bit easier to take.
Mountain Vista Golf Club - Santa Rosa Course
Played On 04/04/2017Good track for the money
This course won't beat you up but you need to go to tips to get a real challenge. It would be great if there was a set of tees between the 6100 gold and 6750 tips, a combination gold/black would up the playability for mid handicappers. Practice facilities are outstanding and greens are hard and fast but as with most mid price course in the desert, bunkers are to be avoided, clay mostly and some had water in them from the irrigation system. Staff are more interested in servicing their members than the public but if your looking for a warm up session and a game with out the after golf drinks, this is a good course.
Desert Dunes Golf Course
Played On 04/01/2017Potential but...
Played in windy conditions but a calm day wouldn't make it a better course. It was likely quite good in it's day but it would seem todays economy has won the battle. Conditions were dry and chances of getting a good lie in "fairway" 50 - 50, rough was hard pan everywhere. A couple of holes where club selection is critical so if not playing with someone knowledgeable, add a stroke or two. Pace of play quite slow but we expected that because of the lack of starter - (go when you want) and level of player ahead of us. No one monitoring pace other than when we swapped out cart because battery died. You get what you paid for so for the money, it was ok.
Shadow Hills Golf Club
Played On 03/28/2017Worth doing again
Enjoyed the round, nice track with great greens. Practice facilities are excellent and we're able to get around in 4 hours as 4some. Nothing tricky about layout so as first time player it was easy to make club choice off tee, don't need driver off the tee on a number of holes. Enjoyed the views and layout, great find for intermediate golfer.
Coldwater Golf Club
Played On 03/27/2017Fun and great pace
Played course for first time as a kick off to the season. Perfect course to work the rust off. Used every club and everything is right out there, no blind shots . A little late in starting but played in under 4 hours (11 AM tee time). Staff friendly and organized. Practice facilities not great but not an indication of course condition or green speed. The course won't beat you up, so enjoy. We will return.
The Phoenician Golf Club
Played On 03/27/2014Pleasant Afternoon
Stress fee round, nice facilities and course was in excellent condition. Greens quick but not tricky, bunkers generally in good shape, fairway, rough - manicured. Not a lot of challenge but great way to spend a day. Check out the outside patio after the round.
Dove Valley Ranch Golf Club
Played On 03/24/2014Nice track, High value, Great condition
Obviously a very new course but well set up and enjoyable way to spend a day. Pace was great and the greens were fast but readable. Fast fairways created some long irons to roll out quite far, add 10%. A couple of tricky holes (split fairway), highly recommend go where you can see if it's your first time. I'll be back.
Camelback Golf Club - Padre Course
Played On 03/23/2014not good
The check in and practice facilities do no not reflect course conditions. We played the front 9 of Padre and left after 9 holes because it took 2 hours and 50 minutes to play. The Player assistant was uncaring and basically said too bad, there was a member event ahead of us and they will be slow. I will not return.
Palmer Course at Wildfire Golf Club at Desert Ridge
Played On 03/22/2014Great greens, fair layout
We played front 9 of Faldo and Palmer as LPGA event was on at same time using back nines. We were able to experience Faldo's bunkers and Palmer's big greens in the same round. Everything about the course was perfect and what you see is what you get, no surprises but the ball will run out further than you get normally, add 10% on long irons and woods. Very enjoyable and greens were perfect and true. The course was a little busy with outside activities that could be a distraction but we expected this and it did not take away from the experience. We will go back again next week, worth the money.
Oakcreek Country Club
Played On 03/21/2014Nice views, fun course
The course is about 1.5 - 2 hours north of Phoenix in Sedona area. Take the day and enjoy the sites and food in the town to make the day complete. The course has a few tricky holes but generally straight forward. All puts break away from the Rock, believe it! Greens were a little slow but true and over all course in good shape. Staff were very friendly and helpful. If you are looking for low stress golf with plenty of views to admire between shots, this is a good bet.
Arizona Traditions Golf Club
Played On 03/18/2014Tired but enjoyable
Not a long, but good for someone new to the game or in need of warm up round. Greens were slow but in good shape, wide fairway and no "rough" but some waste areas. If you only have a couple of balls, you'll be fine as losing a ball would be hard...
Pine at McCormick Ranch Golf Club
Played On 03/16/2014Enjoyable (Pine)
Great way to start golf vacation, good facilities to warm up, putting green, chipping area, bunker area and grass driving range.
Played with local so had good advice on landing areas but there were only a few tricky holes.
Course was in good shape, readable greens with consistent pace. Excellent warm up or if looking for low stress fun.
The Preserve Golf Club
Played On 3/15/2013Tired course, too bad, lot's of potential
Unfortunately the course and management are not the best.Waited 15 - 20 minutes at bag drop to get cart because they ran out. Not a good start. Fairways hard and weed filled, greens about the same quality. Many blind hazards but overall lay out has the potential to be fun, but needs lots of work.
The final straw was making turn at 2 hr 30 minutes and waiting 15 more minutes to tee off. We left after 14 holes as it appeared we would be in for a 5 hour 30 minute round. Lack of ranger or empathy from pro shop makes the decision to not recommend an easy one.
