Cleveland Country Club
Played On 02/08/2023Poor Slanted Pin Position Placements
My son and I played this course several times before and had no problem with pin placements. Pin placements on about 6 holes were in horrible posiitions. The locations were on slanted areas of the green for at least an 8 foot diameter around the hole. . Most courses place their hole positions in at least a 6 foot diameter flat areas around the hole. The course other than pin placement was in great shape.
Royster Memorial Golf Course
Played On 10/20/2022Course is Longer Than Stated
I believe the yardage for this course is understated. Measurement must have been taken from above not having topography consideration (hills and valleys esp. hole nos. 3 and 7). It is still a nice course to play but add an additional length club on many holes.

Played On 09/22/2022Overpriced for an Average Course
It had been a year since my son and I player here. The back nine had quite a few repaved cart paths. There were no maintenance people seen and conditions were average. The rough is clutching grass. It is hard to find your ball and hard to hit. There are many better condition and less expensive courses in the area.

Played On 08/31/2022A Hidden 9 Hole Gem
My son and I played this 9 course for the first time. The clubhouse was somewhat hard to locate but the attendant was very friendly. The mountain like scenery was nice. This would be a difficult course to walk. Course conditions (carts, greens, fairways) were fine.

Played On 08/11/2022Strange 8 Mile Course Policy
My son and I played the front nine which was in perfect condition (greens, fairways and cart paths). The weather had clouds and some rumbling of thunder probably 10 miles to the north. We played two holes on the back nine (rough cartpaths) and two shots on hole number 12. We saw dark clouds in the northeast and rumbling in the distance but there was no rain. A pro shop assistant then rode towards us to tell us we must return to the clubhouse as lightning was seen within 8 miles (How Ridiculous is 8 Miles). When we returned to the clubhouse we were offered to wait for an indefinite time or obtain a nine hole raincheck. I chose the raincheck and am grateful. However, I must say that in over 40 years of playing golf I have never been required to stop play (And, I have played in torrential rainstorms). Especially strange is that no lightening was visible nor did the weather change from a partly sunny day.
River Bend YMCA Golf Course
Played On 07/14/2022NICE GREENS
River Bend is in the best shape overall in many years. The only improverments needed are some rough areas on cart paths and exposed large tree roots. The Greens are in perfect condition.
Pinetuck Golf Course
Played On 05/05/2022Worst Shape Ever
My son and I played this course for the first time in almost a year. The greens here have always been above average until now. The greens were below average and the rest of the course fairways, cart paths, golf carts and clubhouse were in poor condition. We will not play this course for at least another year while hoping improvements will be made.

Played On 04/07/2022A Country Club Treat
My son and I played at Cleveland Country Club for the first time. The Club Pro checked us in and was very welcoming and professional. This was a pleasant way to start a new venue. The front nine is less difficult than the back nine. All the greens were in superb condition.. The asphalt cart paths could use some repair or replacement. We look forward to playing here again.
Lincoln Country Club
Played On 02/16/2022Front 9 vs. Back 9
I played this course with my son for the first time in 2 years. The front nine is easier than the back nine and the maintenance is obvious especially with the cart paths being repaved. The 2nd hole is strange because of the contamination of debris before the green. The back nine is harder and has received no upgrading of cart paths or anything. All 18 greens are good. 3.5 Stars.
River Bend YMCA Golf Course
Played On 11/10/2021Veryy Good Condition
Staff at River Bend are friendly and accomodating. Overall condition of fairways and greens is very good. Hole numbers 8 and 17 are very challenging..
Lenoir Golf Course
Played On 11/27/2020No Visible Course Maintenance
Lenoir Golf Course is scenic and unique. We oassed thru one tunnel 3 times and heard car traffic on every hole. The course had not done any leaf cleanup and was very wet. Cart paths are washed out or have potholes on the surface. Course layout was alright. Due to After Thanksgiving crowding and a 40 minute wait for a cart play was very slow. The nice weather saved the day.
River Bend YMCA Golf Course
Played On 11/09/2020Nice greens and fairways
Course has dramatically improved its greens. Some cart paths are rough but overalll driveable. Many years ago this course was very nice. It went downhill for awhile and had no sand in the traps. Today all is fine with greens, fairways and sand traps.
River Bend YMCA Golf Course
Played On 10/16/2020Nice greens and fairways
Course was in very good shape. Only complaint is rough has bermuda and there are some problems in locatiing ball. But, it is the players fault for being in the rough.
Pinetuck Golf Course
Played On 10/07/2020No Course or Cart Maintenance
My son and I played this course before but this was the first time in 2020. The greens here used to be very good. Excessive rain must have caused a mold/rotting however on about 50 percent of the greens. I always judge a course on how many maintenance workers I see. There were none on the course. Also, their golf carts were dirty and in poor condition. Several cart paths had been washed away with temporary crossings. I would only recommend this course because of the layout not on conditiion.. Overall a 2.5 rating is generous.
Pinetuck Golf Course
Played On 07/16/2019NO GROUNDSKEEPER WORKERS
Good green conditions are the best attribute of this course. Little or no care is given to rough or sand traps. We picked a time and day that was too hot to enjoy golf.
Fort Mill Golf Club
Played On 02/20/2017Fairly Open But Deep Traps
Played with my son and a guy named Barry on a nice February 74 degree winter day. Greens were very good and course had a player fairness layout. Par 4is are very long but wide open. Staff was very professional and friendly.
Westport Golf Course
Played On 11/28/2016Doglegs and Downhill Lies
I played this course for the first time with my son. The layout was scenic and unique with many doglegs and downhill fairway shots. Course was enjoyable. The leaves, however, were too abundant in the rough and in the woods making a stray ball impossible to find. Westport course maintenance should consult with Glen Oaks Golf in Maiden, NC which seasonally grinds and vacuums all leaves well.

Played On 07/05/2016Variety of Elavations...Unsusual Lies
Played this course for the first time with my son and a gentleman who plays here often. Woody was an excellent guide and provided shot location tips. We liked the elevation changes although it did create some unusual lies. Only complaint was the Rough being Too High. Next time we will play it must be cooler than 106 degree heat index!. Otherwise, staff was friendly and course was in great shape.
Thanks for your review and for playing in the summer heat! We are looking forward to seeing you again soon!
Golf Club At Wescott Plantation - Oak Forest Course
Played On 02/19/2016Challenging but Fair
I played this course with 3 friends on 2/19/16. Check In staff were very professional, carts were excellent and the course was Challenging but Fair. Course conditions were above average with some rain saturated areas. Price on Golf Now was somewhat higher than other courses I have played of same quality.
Thanks for the review.
