Blackheath Golf Club
Played On 7/23/2012Average links course
Blackheath is a good deal if you pay <=$25. Otherwise I would say it is worth skipping. Tee times are booked 5-6 minutes apart and due to this, you could be in for a lonnnng round on afternoons and weekends. Some of the starters out there rush you on the first tee as they are trying to get everyone off on-time, which never happens. Other than the pace of play, the course is scoreable and you can bomb it around out here. The course is short, if you aren't playing from the black tees. I always wonder why I never see anyone else playing from the blacks, with the exception of myself and the publinx teams. Black tees got some golf holes on them, with all the long par 4's usually into the wind. Good par 3's as well. Tee off first during the week and you will be satisfied.
Dunham Hills Golf Club
Played On 7/14/2012Great greens!
Greens might be the best i have played in michigan! Very hilly and classic layout. Good mix of holes with some being tighter than others. Most are tree lined by trees that have been there for years and have grown very large. Hit it straight and you will score very well here. 14th hole rated as one of the toughest in the metro area. Would play more often if it wasn't so far away.
Greystone Golf Club
Played On 4/16/2012Good course
Course is nice and kept up well. When I played it this year, both times were in early April when the weather was cold and windy both days in tournaments. Greens were cut short and fast, but bumpy. Wait till the summer to play it. Last three holes are fairly cool if you have never played em.
Devil's Ridge Golf Club
Played On 9/3/2011Have to play this course at least once
Devil's ridge is a quirky design with some of the holes being fit in an area of dense woods. The course has some great views and elevation for Oxford. I like to make it out there at least a few times per year as it is definitely worth it! Greens could be a little nicer and a little less bouncy, otherwise great course. Watch out for the hills as you can easily flip the golf cart! 10th hole is my least favorite hole as it was just "fit-in" to make 18 holes. If you hit your driver straight you can score well here as it plays significantly shorter than the actual yardage. IMO this course might just be the best in oxford.
The Orchards Golf Club
Played On 4/19/2011Tournament syle gold course
Top 5 in metro Detroit. Would play here more often if it wasn't so much dough. Front nine is tight. Back nine more of a links style with wide fairways. Greens are hard to figure out if you don't play here on a regular basis. They are not really comparable to any greens in Michigan. Hard to read. In tourneys in the past, I am a fairly good putter and have had 36+ putts here. Putt well here and you will do fine! Definitely play here when you can.
Mulberry Hills Golf Course
Played On 6/13/2010Not worth it
Played this course for the first time back in the summer. Course is in the middle of no where and doesn't even have a practice putting green. Greens are some of the worst i've played on and are dome shaped. One of the worst courses in michigan. Good for beginners however. They should all play here so they don't slow up the other courses.
WestWynd Golf Course
Played On 6/6/2010Lots of elevation changes
Is a course that you must play at least once. Greens have never been great as they were burnt up years ago and gave never been the same, Greens can be extremely hills and a little bumpy. Must take a cart due to the distance in between tees. Features 5 par 5's and 5 par 3's. Course is on a fairly upscale portion of land with large houses all around. The elevation changes and views are why you have to play here once.
Bluffs/Peaks Golf Course at Boulder Pointe Golf Club
Played On 6/7/2009Nice 27-hole layout
BP features three nines all of which have their own uniqueness. Peaks and Dunes are by far the best two nines. Bluffs is across the street and more straight forward. From the golds this course can be one of the longest in the state, close to 7500 yards. The amount of long par 4's is endless. Course winds through detached condos in a golf community. Overall, course is kept up nice and I would recommend playing here at least once if you haven't already.
