Hadn't played here for years - nice to be back

Course is in good condition for 9NOV. They've blown the leaves away from most playable areas. Well organized COVID protocol. Person at the driveway asks screening questions - roll down passenger window to speak to them. Played just under 4 hour round.. get takeaway sandwich and beverage before the round. No beverage cart today.

Great course condition for fall

Was pleased and surprised driving up to the course that they've blown the fallen leaves off the fairways and primary rough. Lots of fall rain lately so the course is green and healthy. Putting greens were aerated and sanded around Oct 8th so some uneven rolls.

Starter meets you in the parking lot and checks you in. Pro Shop has drinks and sandwiches as you come in the door. There was no beverage cart on the weekday we played. Good COVID protocol. Can get single rider per cart.

Good use of terrain adds challenge

Well organized check in process. Sign cart waiver at outside table. Pay inside pro shop. Distancing reminders on floor. Pick up cart keys, score card at outside canopy.
Individual carts available. Constant supply of sanitized carts coming from cleaning station at the range/academy
Pre round refreshments available at the back porch of the club house. Beverage cart arrived to check with us at least 4x during the round.

Some wet spots on course with standing water. Pace of play was excellent 3.5 hours. Layout goes up and down and across elevation changes. We will come back

Disappointing attitude

Course was not busy due to forecasted rain which arrived for much of front nine. Rain gear on. Rain gear off. Golf experience was excellent.

Pre round check in at pro shop was fine. Had to argue with Starter/cart assignment for individual carts. How about offering two rider shared cart price or individual full cart price? And telling you you will be forced to share a cart. We would absolutely pay for individual cart price. Have done that as a single in prior years at many courses. The course has equipped carts with the vinyl shower curtain divider between driver and rider which is an exception clarified for transport of a passenger. Riders can also choose carts with no divider.

This course has previously agreed to send out individual carts. On this day that seemed to be an issue with the cart guys. Provincial Stage 3 doesn't mean less precautions on distancing. We are fortunate here in Ontario. Some States require wearing masks while playing golf in the heat. We don't want that to happen here.

PGA of Canada and PGA of Ontario websites both STILL (08/08/2020) quote the OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT GUIDANCE "limit golf cart use to one cart per golfer with the exception of those golfers who reside in the same household".

Playing partner and I live in separate houses. This used to be a favorite pair of courses. Can't recommend these courses anymore when they're not open to accommodating player COVID request for separate carts.

Excellent challenge for all skill levels

Pro shop signage limits the number inside for COVID safety - good!
Starter has carts sanitized for 1 person per cart unless you arrived in the same car - good. No flimsy vinyl screens like some courses.
The course grooming was excellent.
Multiple tee boxes. We played from white tees. The back tees are way back and have more hazards in play.
We played behind two foursomes. Done 18 holes in 3.5 hours.
It was a great day of golf. We will come back to this course.
Average marks on off course amenities as the patio halfway house wasn't open yet when we made the turn. Beverage cart found us on the back nine.

Walkable 9-holes with alternate tee boxes for back 9

Course was walking-only no carts as there had been snow cover up until the morning we played. Good drainage - wasn't muddy and no standing water on any of the lies. Good layout. Could see other players on other holes but no danger of incoming balls. Nice looking holes. Some tee boxes had been aerated. Conditioning ok for last week in Ontario November. Fallen leaves had been removed so balls easy to see and find. Pace of play was fine with all groups walking. No food or beverage at end of season.

Pace of play too slow this time

Crooked Cat has been a course we look forward to playing when we're visiting the area. Have played both courses several times. We were sub 2 hours on the front. Not sure what happened today but on the back we caught up to a pack of groups ahead and ended up walking off after waiting four groups on a hole on several holes. As we drove in past other groups ahead there were only two groups on 18 and maybe 1-2 on 17 and 16 so the bottleneck somewhere around there. The cart had a visor sign saying 4 hours 12 minutes is the target time. No way we would have been done in less than 5 hours at the back 9 pace. course marshalls in sight all day.

Nice to have the elevation changes being in the hills

Played Las Colinas on Monday afternoon before Thanksgiving. Course was quiet. We got around in just over 3 hours which was great pace.
Greens were slower than we were used to playing and had to hit some putts hard to get to the hole. Course in decent condition. One hole was cart path only and walking out to ball it was obviously soggy and not able to handle cart until it dries up. Most fairways are generously wide. Had to shape some shots around mature trees.

Stuck behind high school tournament

We like Dragon's Fire. Course has some scenic holes. Today pace of play was slow nearly 5 hours on a Wednesday mid day . High school tournament ahead of green fee golfers needed to be put on the clock. We could see group coming off a green and the group behind wasn't even up to the tee box yet, let alone waiting in the fairway to approach the green. End slow play now!

Always saw it from the highway and was curious

Beddoe - it's municipal golf. Hey, UR not paying $,$$$,$$$ for impeccable course grooming.

Mature parkland layout. Hilly! 3.5 hours. Fairways bumpy as O/P said.
Local course knowledge helps for dealing with where the ball rolls out to. I'll play some holes differently next time. Greens can be tricky.

Cart paths have seen better days but this doesn't affect where you play your ball.

Plenty of parking up the hill from basic needs pro shop. Beverage cart and halfway snack shop both operating.

Ideal conditions, some sun and some wind to make it interesting

Tuesday afternoon, we were done in 4 hours. Twosome in front of us played through a group of 4 and we didn't have to wait for them to hit. Beverage cart was around a few times. Helps to know the layout from playing before as there are a few blind dogleg shots where cutting the corner could be on the fairway or could be in the deep mown weed/hay. Lost a few balls in the sidehills.

Mature course with plenty of space between the trees framing the fairways. Some holes are tightly placed together. Had to wait sometimes for players from other holes wandering into our fairway looking for their wayward shot. No beverage cart on a hot Saturday. The marshals were friendly and helped look for a ball that bounced off cart path

Worth the drive out to the country

Some long carries and local course management knowledge will help deal with naturalized hazard areas down in valleys. One hole plays to par 6 as you need to place your drive, lay up to second hazard, play to landing area, use wedge to clear 3rd hazard onto green.
Course was in excellent condition. Course marshalls came by a few times to check we found pace of play ok and how we were liking the course. No beverage cart this day, and it was HOT. Clubhouse pro shop is basically a large trailer where you check in and get scorecard, water, food.

Where is the sand? It's not in the bunkers

Played here as a guest of a member and paid premium green fees amongst the highest in GTA by far . The grassy parts of the course are in great shape. Was quite disappointed that for the PLATINUM level golf course, many of the bunkers had no sand. Like, your wedge bounces out, hits equator of ball and sends the ball screaming over the green and you look down and see a mud/dirt divot where the wedge just carved out. Shame. Otherwise pace of play was good and a very nice course. Get some sand!

Nice looking holes. Bring lots of balls. The fescue can hide offline shots.

Bistro menu at the halfway house between the clubhouse and driving range has nice breakfast options for morning tee times before the main restaurant opens. The beverage carts seem to park at one location each on the front and back so we could have seen them more if they circulated.

Nicely placed sets of tee boxes, from the tips you better be really good and if you're not, you're a jerk for your slow play. The starter recommends moving up to the shorter tees. The most forward tees eliminate having to carry the hazards and ensure everyone can have a nice round. We played white tees and had a great time and were finished in 4:15 after slower back nine congestion on every hole.

Course layout requires a variety of shots. The elevation changes provide some nice looking holes.

Hot day needed more beverage carts

We played 36C, humidex 46C. Teed off in the morning to avoid the worst of the heat. The coffee shop was not open before tee off so we couldn't buy drinks and the pro shop had a cooler but didn't advise that was the only place to get fluids for the front nine. We drank all the liquids we brought with us, and by 7th hole were a bit worried. The marshall radiod and reported the beverage cart had gone out on the back nine. He kindly got a bottle of water from the halfway house. We restocked there. Bring your own water from home.

Perfect fall golf

The pro shop advised of flood damage to a few fairway areas but carts were allowed out on scatter pattern. These GUR areas were mostly not in the line of play. One par 4 that normally is quite challenging was shortened to a par 3. The fairways and greens were in great shape. Leaves had been blown clear of fairways. We will come back again in the spring.
