The 500 Club
Played On 07/21/2018Too much going on
Some of my friends played here and while they didn’t recommend this they never talked much about it. I got one tell on course playability from one person outside the pro shop, another from the person in the pro shop and yet another from the starter. A lot of construction around the back nine took bunches away from this place. Playing behind a sixem that was in full view of the starter/ Marshall and him doing nothing about it doesn’t help my opinion. Most putting greens were in good shape but mowing rough at three inches on a public course shows really poor judgement. Searching for balls when a fairway is missed only slows down play. Don’t think I will be returning any way soon, maybe never.
Links O'Tryon
Played On 7/06/2013Very disappointed with this course.
I partially blame myself for getting stuck with this experience. I used the course web site to base my choice for the course rather than use Golfnow customer reviews. After a two hour drive to get here with my wife and son, we found dead greens, bunkers mostly empty or completely empty of sand, most tee boxes hadn't been mowed. There had been a great deal of rain recently but there wasn't any evidence that any attempt to improve playability had been done. We were all very disappointed for the price they charged. I learned a valuable lesson, READ CUSTOMER REVIEWS BEFORE YOU DECIDE.
Linville Falls Golf Club
Played On 6/22/2013Shot makers will love this place.
Course was in very good condition and the greens were smooth. Several elevation changes gives a golfer a chance to choose the right club when more than yardage is the issue. Even if it's a par four, don't pull out the driver right away, take a close look at the fairway. Choosing an iron is sometimes the best choice. I plan to go back as soon as I can. The guys in the proshop made us feel very welcome.
Deer Brook Golf Club
Played On 6/1/2013Course is well maintained and the greens roll true.
The course played great. Every turn was clearly marked except where is #10 tee. There was some cart path damage but that didn't take away from the way the course played. We wound up in the middle of a tournament that we were unaware of till we arrived at the course. This slowed the pace of play and the twosome behind us was very impatient. Clubhouse staff seemed distant. Maybe the tournament caused this. Would give it another try when no tournament was being played.
