We have played here several times. It is just okay, normally as ownership is changing, maintenance spotty, etc. Unfortunately on this day as I was standing on the third tee, I looked to see the grass sand moving and realized it was really a sea of red fire ants. Too late, they were already swarming all over my shoes, ankles and lower legs !!
I ran back to the cart, ripped off my socks and shoes and rubbed ice on my 30+ ant bites. The stinging pain was intense and my feet started to swell, so we abandoned the round, did a bee line to the car, sped to the nearest drug store for Benedryl, etc and ice packs. We considered a trip to the ER.
We have lived in FL for over 30 years. Bugs are everywhere, but they can be easily controlled. This infestation in inexcusable and, if a person, was allergic would really be a serious problem for all. As it was, I couldn't wear shoes for two days, then the bites turned to itchy red blisters that took over two weeks to resolve.
Scratch (literally) one mediocre golf course off our list.

Second round here in one week. Not crowded in PM even on Sat in peak season. Set up for club tourney so very fast and firm with super hard pin placements. Certainly not private club quality maintenance but very good for the most part for an affordable and accessible public track. Range balls are rocks, tee boxes fair, fairways pretty thin with locks of Florida roll. Houses abound but not crowded. Overall a pleasant, moderately challenging course if you not too picky.

Save your money unless you enjoy playing beat up, poorly maintained muni courses which are over-priced and underloved. Tee boxes are a mess. Greens are patchy and inconsistent. Cart paths non-existent. Overall feel is a for profit course that has a lock on local public golf and is being milked by private owners.
Better to pay a bit more, and drive farther to Stuart or Lake Worth for a real golf experience not this pasture. IF the course was better groomed, it might be fun as long as the cranky homeowners lining almost every fairway to not intimidate you. One guy waved a whirring weedeater at my wife while she was preparing to hit a ball that was clearly in bounds. Urban golf feel in an area populated by real golf courses.

This course is designed and groomed for seniors and short, accurate hitters. The fairways are mowed like greens and the greens are like pool tables. No collars, second cut, rough, etc. Lots of sand and spoil. Leave the driver at home. Weird 27 hole layout with random 9's paired at the turn. Fun, above average muni course that you would expect in "Boca".

Played the National side with two college buddies. Overall, very nice experience...friendly staff, nice facility, feels like a public course more than a resort course. Fairways and greens were in good shape and well-groomed as were traps. Only complaint was lack of a ranger to move along the pokey twosome in front of us! Definitely would go back.

Great layout and condition...best public course in Sofia. No amenities or GPS but very nice course..no abutting houses or apts. Nice!

Played just opened Pines 9 so very good condition and no crowd! Signage and facilitiesnot finished, strange long cart drives due to old closed holes. Tons of sand and water, plus tight fairways make it a challenge. Staff great. No GPS.Would repeat!

Played this course in October and hated it due to overgrown rough that was unplayable - quit after 9 holes!
Now, much better. Rough tough, but not crazy hard, greens improved, 80% of storm debris on sidelines cleaned up. Nice layout that needs more TLC, like many older facilities in South Florida. Recommended at non peak times and non peak price!

AWFUL!! RSTHER HAVR A ROOT CANAL!! Rough is so long and thick any ball out od fairway is lost. Seriously !! Inexcusable all around from overgrown traps to torn up greens. Save your money...regardless how cheap!

Best public course in FLL. Even after Irma, looks and plays great. Lots of sand, but not super long or unfair.

Very challenging, esp. if you start on the back which is very tight and unforgiving. No easy holes and lots of precise shots needed, even off forward tees. Pack your A game and your lunch !!

Public course vibe, avoid if busy, wide open, good confidence booster for your game as little trouble

Tight, with lots of sand and water. Lots of tee choices to fit ability.

Not a championship course. Boring layout. Congested houses all along. Classic real estate deal fallen on very hard times. Much better values in local area!
