Ballinlough

Arrived at the 7th Tee to find three foursomes waiting; our group was the fourth, then we were joined by a fifth. So instead of playing 18, I gave up after 9. The staff don't care about the pace of play. "It's a public course and that's the way it is." was one response.
"We put groups out every 8 minutes and it usually gets backed up as folks don't know how to keep the ball on the fairways." was another response. Overall this was a painful experience and I'd play the course again but only if I were first out in the a.m.

This course is fairly user friendly. The fairways are wide and the greens are in excellent shape. Yes, there are hazards: both water and bunkers. Stay out of them and you'll score well. The attractive houses along the fairways are set well back so no issues there.

A shout out to the starter, Paul, who fit me in before my tee time which enabled me to finish the round just before dark. And playing with the two gents from Vermont made this a most enjoyable round.

challenging course, but the average golfer would enjoy the variety of holes the course offers. Loved the layout, , which meanders up hill and down dale. Lots of trees on the course too. Some wonderful views of the mountains to the north east.

Greens in good shape as are the fairways.

Just a reminder for those coming from Palm Springs: The temp is cooler in Oak Valley, so bring an extra layer of clothing; it got very cool from mid afternoon on.

Showed up on my own. Pro set me up with three gents, who happened to be very good golfers and fun to play with. (Understandable, after all, they are from Minnesota.)

The setting of the course is one of the best I've ever played. After a fair amount of rain in the morning, the course had soaked it up and was in excellent condition. Obviously the greens were a little show because of the dampness but no issue here.
Loved the course and I'd urge anyone to play it.
The views alone are worth the outing.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Good value. Some of the holes are a bit sameish, greens in great shape, and so are fairways.

Definitely play it again and again.

Enjoyed the course. Booked as a single. But as another reviewer pointed out, members are stuffy about playing with non-members. I played by myself as a member played the the whole 18 just behind me.
And yes, I invited him to join me. He refused.
