My daughter came in from college and wanted to play golf. I booked a tee-time at Hampton. The weather was perfect, the two men they put us with were great, but the course is in pretty bad condition. I realize we're coming out of winter, and we've had a great deal of rain, but still the course was very bare. The greens appeared to have been punched about a week ago...sand and holes...again I know that is part of the maintenance, but it was not noted or mentioned. I think paying almost $100 for two people to play under these conditions is a bit unfair.
They also need to encourage the women working in the snack bar to at least act like they are enjoying serving you and it;s not such a chore. No smiles, no "Thank You" when I tipped, ...too many golf courses around to have a bad attitude....

River Island is an incredible golf course. It is absolutely beautiful, as it winds around the French Broad River. It actually has golf holes, on islands, the course layout is wonderful and will challenge you. The fairways are Zoysia, which are great, but the rough, around the greens are Zoysia too and can present a very frustrating shot.
I learned last weekend the course was up for auction and that the highest bidders are looking to tear the golf course down and build HOUSES!
This would be an ABSOLUTE DISASTER! River Island's layout is one of the best I've ever played and it would be a real shame if it is made into a housing development! If I had the money, I'd build a new clubhouse, clean up the bunkers and market the heck out of it. It truly is a DIAMOND in the rough.
I hope the new owners will preserve the golf course and bring it back to where it deserves to be.

My family and I drove 45 minutes on Sunday to play. The weather was perfect but that is the only thing that was. Upon entering the clubhouse to check-in I noticed it is a very tired facility. It is in desperate need of updating. From the paint to the carpet, pictures, furniture...the entire clubhouse needs an overhaul!
After checking in and getting some range balls we headed to the driving range. The range was actually Ok and I thought...ok so the clubhouse is in need of an up-grade but the clubhouse is not why I came it's because of the course. Well, the course conditions were similar to the clubhouse. Tee boxes un-level and sparsely covered with grass, the fairways were play-able but thin and bare in places. The greens were not bad on the front but the back had several burned out areas. My suggestion would be this; if you are looking for a place to take your beginner golfer, this is a decent choice. But if you are an avid golfer and know how to play I suggest you fine another course.

Playing golf at Cobblestone is always a good time. The course is almost always in good shape and the layout is fair to all level of golfers, unless you want to push it back to the back tees...then it's all you want.

Played golf yesterday at chestatee with my daughter and we had a great day! Course is in good condition . We're planning to go back and play golf again!

The vistas at Fairways of Canton are truly unbelievable, especially from # 17 green & #18 tee box. You can see what appears to be both Tennessee & North Carolina mountain ranges...
The course, in and of itself, needs to have better attention paid to it, as the greens were in stressful conditions, tee boxes & portions of the fairways were, in places, very sparsely covered in green grass. I would think given the amount of rain, sunshine and warm temps the course would be in much better shape. Who knows, maybe the best time to play this course is in the fall or early Spring?

Played golf yesterday at Charlie Yates, with my son. It was our first time to play C.Y. and we had an enjoyable day. The course is still rebounding from the winter but I believe it will be a decent course(9 holes) when the weather gets warmer and everything grows in.
I would encourage fathers to take their sons & daughters to C.Y. as it is a good place to learn the game of golf.

This has to be one of the worst "golf courses" I've played since I was 10 years old.
The ONLY thing I can say GOOD about the experience on Monday was the staff was nice. The course is in HORRIBLE CONDITION!! The cart we had, had the turning ratio of an 18 wheeler, the TOP of the cart was broken off...literally. The greens are"black" because they are nothing but dirt. There's more grass growing in the median of 285 than on the greens at Heritage. The tee boxes were bare, the rough was deep, the sand traps were like walking on a beach on some remote and deserted island...about 6 inches deep!
Years, and years ago I used to play Heritage on a fairly regular basis. But, I can tell you now, that I have played my LAST round at Heritage until there is a change in ownership and they make the decision to INVEST into the golf course! Just in case you have read this review and are still wondering if you should go to Heritage and pay your hard earned cash to play and haven't quite grasp the message I'm trying to convey; my review in a nutshell is: Heritage SUCKS!

St. Marlo was in decent condition when we played. The starter said they had punched the greens about 3 weeks earlier...still needed time to heal, but probably by now they are pretty good.
