Virginia Oaks Golf Club
Played On 05/22/2016Tortuously slow
A rainy day so expected low turnout and quick pace. was told a tournament was on but i could still get out at my tee time. my expectation was that the tournament would have started in the morning and pretty much be done. not sure if it was tournament players or others who booked but the pace was tortuously slow. i quit after 9 holes even thought i booked for 18. will be a long time before i return.
Virginia Oaks Golf Club
Played On 11/10/2013Too much time waiting; not enough time playing golf
The club schedules too many tee times, back to back, making the pace of play terribly slow. If there was a marshall cruising keeping up the pace of play that might help. Many leaves on the course make it difficult to find your ball; that's not the course's fault although I've seen some courses blow off the leaves at the start of the day. The problem is that the marshall or the clubhouse should inform the players not to spend too much time looking for balls; just suck it up, drop a ball, and play on. Depite all this, cudos to the snack bar attendant who is always very curteous and helpful.
The Gauntlet Golf Club
Played On 11/3/2013Very interesting and challening course but playable
Overall, enjoyed the course. Variation on each hole was challenging and kept your interest. The diagrams at each tee box were useful in planning your approach as there are several holes where you have to position your landing and follow-up shot.
A drawback on the outing was that our cart began to die on hole 12. We were not able to reach anyone at the pro shop to come and help. On hole 15 the cart died and we unloaded our bags to begin to walk. Only out of happenstance did someone from the course come by and relinquish their cart to us to use. They apologized but not being able to reach the pro shop should not happen.
Greendale Golf Course
Played On 10/20/2013Good course layout, fairways well-maintained, greens visually maintained but too slow.
Course is well-maintained, pace of play was good. Some holes have blind approaches so good to have someone who's played there before. Greens are visually in good shape but play to slow.
Longest Hole/Waterfall at Meadows Farms Golf Course
Played On 6/23/2013We live in N. Virginia - not worth the drive
starter put us on the course that had too many players going out just before us, while the other 2 courses were not as crowded. fairways and greens were in good condition but areas off the fairways needed to have the grass trimmed; very difficult to find your ball. several blind holes; would be very useful to have descriptions of each hole. Longest hole is more like an obstacle course with a blind pond off the tee and an unreasonable fairway slope. not worth the drive.
