Same course nothing special and the boxes and greens are hurting.

I’ve played this course a couple times. For some reason it still blows me away every time I go here on how the staff on this course act like it’s a 5 star course when it’s a 3-3.5 star courses at best. I’m even more that people might thing of joining a membership here. For $60k that’s insane.

Anyways… the greens were punched 2 weeks ago and they still look like they were punched two days ago. They were dry, burned, and honestly in bad shape for two weeks out. They punched the tee boxes recently too but that’s all they did. No sand, no leveling, nothing to even out or level the boxes. So we paid $88 a man to hit off bad boxes, bad greens, and get pushed off the first tee box “on time” so we could catch up to and wait on the group in front of us on hole 5.
To be honest, the only thing that was nice about this course was the range, the fairways and the cart girl. The rest was sub par. I’d like to see it to groundskeeper thing but my gut tells me it’s a management thing. Asking top dollar and spending bare minimum to get what they can.
Really just disappointing when the place really has potential.

I played on Thursday morning, and the staff was super nice, very courteous, and the pace of play was great. I’m currently on the course and playing on Friday morning Tina off an hour earlier than I did on Thursday and the starter was a little rude and standoffish. Not to mention the pace of play is at a snails pace. We had four groups on the first hole. I’m now sitting on the second hole waiting again. Unfortunately we have a foursome in front of us and then a twosome in front of us and then us. The foursome behind us is catching up to us and waiting. I think it’s safe to say that there is either a delay or the starter is Russian people out so that they can speed things up which is only slowing things down.

This course is fun to play for sure especially for the way it looks in the middle of an Arizona Summer. I got a Hot Rate which made it better.
If I was to give only one suggestion would be to either GPS or provide a display of the holes. There are a lot of hidden water spots and tight lies that the players should be aware of before teeing off. Hit it down the middle on BLUE or you’re gonna lose your ball for sure.
White was a lot more player friendly for sure.

Waste of a day…. Our tee time was delayed 15 minutes right out the shoot. We waited on average five minutes on every Teebox. By the time we got to the back nine there was usually 10 players on each hole at a minimum. Our threesome, the threesome in front of us, the foursome in front of them, and sometimes the foursome in front of them. By the time we got to the 14th the two groups in front of us decided to finish the last five holes together as a group of seven. This ended up being a five hour around, let me repeat that A FIVE HOUR ROUND IN CARTS. We only saw the ranger of one time on the 13th hole. He smiled at us and drove past us like there was nothing wrong. I’d like to contribute are so pace of play due to us having three players in the groups In front of us having for but we had friends who Tee’d off 40 minutes before us And they experienced the same thing as well.
It is blatantly obvious that Johnson Ranch is only concerned about getting the maximum amount of players on their course no matter what the experiences. I find this highly concerning or I should say disappointing because the neighborhood around Johnson Ranch is absolutely exploding and people are going to not want to play there and rather drive somewhere else. I personally would rather go play a goat track like Las Colinas or Apache Creek before I go back to Johnson Ranch.
My suggestion to anyone considering Johnson Ranch, don’t go there unless you plan on spending your entire day waiting to take your next shot.

I normally play this course 4-5x during the summer. It’s never a 5 star place but it always better than most mid range courses around the area. I’m not a scratch golfer by any means, so this a great deal for me and the guys.

Love the course. Even at 106’ outside it was still a fun course. Nothing better than a course actually giving a reasonable rate for a mid week mid day round in 100+ weather. Great online rate.
