The 12th tee box. The hole is a sharp dog leg right. Slicers have a chance to turn the corner. Draws need to control length to not be in the corner bunker. Photo submitted by norm9602536 on 10/26/2015

Dunham Hills Golf Club
Played On 12/10/2015Good Condition, Open Late in the Season
Second time playing this course. It is one of the few courses in Michigan to be open this late into December (even though it is 50º this year).
Rolling terrain is the most challenging aspect of the course. It is wise to be sure no one is over the hill in front before teeing off.
The only "gripe" is that there were few guides to the next hole, which made it challenging to know where to go next.
Shenandoah Country Club
Played On 10/24/2015Excellent staff, course
Shenandoah Country Club is a very attractive course, with many holes featuring significant elevation changes. The front nine is more open than the back, and several holes have water in play if you're not straight or the right distance. All the greens are sloped and fast - one must be accurate in trajectory and speed.
As with all courses, when it is busy, the pace of play slows down (especially on holes 14, 15 and 16). Don't sweat it, enjoy the view.

Fox Hills Golf Center - Fox Classic - Lakes/Woodlands Course
Played On 07/13/2014A favorite course
Fox Hills (Hills, Woodland, Lakes) is a favorite course - three nine-hole courses offering different experiences on each. Friendly while being challenging, If you don't keep it in the fairway, be sure to bring adequate balls. This course is normally busy, but the round Sunday was very fast - under three hours (played as a single) - and there was only a $10 charge for an additional nine holes that played in under an hour. The facility has two other courses on the property - Fox Classic (links) and Fox Strategic (a challenging par three course).
Cattails Golf Club
Played On 07/12/2014Less then what I remember from a dozen years ago
I first played Cattails about 12 years ago, it seemed to have a feeling of a semi private club. This time the course felt a little rough around the edges. Cart path were deteriorated. Ball washers were lacking water. Restrooms were not in pristine condition. The course itself is challenging, with roly-poly greens and challenging rough. The staff is extremely friendly and a fairly good selection of craft beers. At $25 this is a great value - but full price would be a little bit pricey.
Bluffs/Peaks Golf Course at Boulder Pointe Golf Club
Played On 06/05/2014Challenging, but fair course
Boulder Pointe is on the regular rotation of courses that I play. Scenic, playable, excellent greens and fairways. Minor annoyances: bring hydration, as there were no on-course beverage carts; no ball washer; bunkers have LOTS of rocks - luckily, I did not have to hit out of any.
Rattle Run Golf Course
Played On 7/26/2013Hidden Gem just north of Detroit Metro
I've played Rattle Run several times. It's not quite an "up north experience," but it is close - and a lot closer to Detroit than "up north."
Several holes require precision shots, where water or trees play major factors to one's success.
Bear Lake Highlands Golf Course
Played On 07/05/2013Great value, challenging course
Bear Lake is a great value. The course offers lots of challenges: water, woods, sand, doglegs and blind shots that require thought and shot making skills. The greens were immaculate and the staff courteous and helpful. I was told that July 5 was the busiest day the course had seen all year, yet I finished 18 just under four hours. I suggest calling the course for pricing before booking on GolfNow, as it was actually a few dollars less than the 13% savings listed here.
Thank you! We appreciate you taking the time to review us and we'll look to address your "gripe" in the 2016 season. We hope to see you again when we re-open!
