Apple Time

We play Apple Tree annually if not twice during the season. You just gotta do the 17th. We just call it the Apple although many names come to mind after you've just doubled it from getting yourself wet!
Course was in very good condition despite having a record amount of rain in Oct. Greens were in excellent shape and rolled smooth and true. Fore mid handicappers from the blues it's a stiff challenge at 72.5 136 6658. But the course is staged for all golfers to have a memorable round!
We highly recommend just for the chance to play the "Apple"!

Challenging RMG course

RMG is working on improving sunlight to course by removing many trees. It has changed the "look". Still it is tough by most standards with it's undulating FWs and greens. For amount of play it gets it is very well taken of despite current improvement work going on. Greens very good, fast, IMHO! Very good deals with GolfNow on weekends.

Challenging course from back tee..

I played the blue. It is rated on the card to be 72.4 & 139. GHIN has it at similar at 72.2 & 128. Greens were fast and mostly smooth. RMG is doing a lot of work to open the course up to more sunlight. This will have a huge impact in quality already present with the course. My only concern is the tee boxes. This may be due to the work currently being done but many were not level and sand fill was evident.
I will play it again. I will join the RMG group. They have excellent options for membership.

The Rave & Rant

The Rave:
The day we played course was in very good shape w/some wet(muddy) spots due to thundershowers typical of Atlantic coast for time of year we played. This course is very challenging from any tee and I would not recommend for beginners or high handicappers. If you are a straight hitter or can work the ball then I would recommend. There is water on every hole that can come into play. There are many deep bunkers and rough. The design of course due to the architects renowned world wide was superior! FWs and greens very fast and smooth. We rode a cart. The course was ours and we took time to search for ammo. We were not molested by marshal's for our slow play not once! We finished in 4:45. Excellent customer service, very friendly staff!!

The Rant:
. The course is too penal for even mid handicappers if you miss the FW - I am a 13 currently. I believe this is due to the cut of fairway\rough. I hit several shots just off FW missing by only feet and lost my ball 6 times due to height of the Bermuda. For a resort course they need IMHO to have multiple cuts FW - 1st(at 2"# if missing by only 5< feet, maybe a 3rd? I still shot a 88 from the 2nd longest tee. I birdied 3 times and shot par on several holes.
For paying 130+$ for our round #I played on a Wednesday at 1pm# there was no GPS, no ice in chest #90+ deg. day# no ball or club cleaner#I'll explain shortly# on cart, & very hard to dislodge brake on cart because of type when wearing spikes\cleats.
I played the LPGA International in Daytona for $43 and cart w\GPS included ice chest filled w\ice and 2 bottles of water, and a ball & club cleaner. The Hills course was very challenging w\long carries over swamp. The Rees is a links and tough too! The best value we experienced & excellent customer service. The rangers were just plain funny with course descriptions!!

For rants above contrasted to LPGA tracks I can only IMHO give a below average score.
