Silverthorn Country Club
Played On 04/14/2022Has Markedly Gone Downhill
I’ve played this course probably five times in the two years pre-pandemic and was quite impressed with the course condition and kept it as my “special” place to play.
The round I played this past Thursday was a huge disappointment primarily because of how badly the course has deteriorated. The forward tee boxes were merely weed patches where the markers had been placed. The fairways were a mixture of bare patches, weeds and some grass. The greens were adequate and better than the tees or fairways. Traps were raked cleanly, but no rakes were available around them or on the carts. There was no water available on the course. Our cart was missing the upper windshield so when it rained we got very wet. We encountered a few very deep ruts in the fairways which made the ride extremely bumpy and uncomfortable. I do not plan to play this course again. Very disappointed to see a top notch well maintained course deteriorate to its current condition. Sad!

Check in at the pro shop was fast and friendly. We felt very welcome. Cart was clean, ready to go and ran smoothly. The starter was friendly and helpful. Pace of play was great and the couple we were paired with were delightful. They were more familiar with the course and were happy to provide insight. The greens were in great condition especially considering the time of year. Tee boxes were well maintained as were the fairways. The rough was relatively short so was not overly punishing. We will look forward to playing there again in the near future.

Played On 06/02/2018The course has interesting holes
Overall impression was good with interesting holes, very friendly staff, some electric carts which I much prefer over gas, and fairways and greens that are well maintained. At the grill, they were very accommodating in giving out large bags of ice with your cold drinks inside, a very welcome amenity. On the needs improvement side, some bunkers didn’t have much sand and some had standing water in them (although to be fair, we just came off a week of rain). There were some soft spots on the fairways, again due to the great amount of recent rain. The course could use a few more fresh ice water stations as it is summer and this is Florida and it was Hot! The thing that I found distressing was the pace of play. Despite having booked a tee time, the wait on the first tee was nearly 40 minutes. I’d also heard that there were open holes between some groups that I think an on course ranger might have been able to correct.
I enjoyed my round and will definitely be playing there again, but hopefully not on a weekend which may improve the pace of play.

Our foursome were all first time players on this course. Our tee time was ready for us although because of a ladies tournament, we were asked to tee off on the back nine. Not too much of a problem since we didn't know the course anyway.
We all agreed the fairways and greens were in excellent shape. The folks we encountered both on the course and in the restaurant were very friendly and we enjoyed the high quality of the food. The overall ambience of the club house and dining room was excellent. We will definitely return and recommend to our friends!
Hi, Thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for the poor experience you had during your visit. Your feedback about the course is important to us. We are working to get everything up to par. We have projects ongoing to recover the fairways and greens. The current condition is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We are going to escalate your feedback to our team so we can make improvements before your next game, and we will continue to work towards an excellent experience by using your comment for guidance. Thank you for playing Silverthorn Country Club. We hope to see you again soon.
