About
I started playing golf in San Marcos, TX back in 1981 with a set of Golden Bear clubs with real persimmon woods. And over the years I've played over 45 different courses primarily in TX. In HS I played on the tennis team but was never ranked.

The course condition is rough, with too much Dallisgrass and King Ranch Blue-stem (I think) around the fairways and tee boxes, along with bluegrass on the greens. One putt was heading for the cup and was diverted due to a small bluegrass patch. Should we penalize the green's keeper or the player? There were lot's of lumps and bumps along the front nine especially. Some of the tee-boxes need moisture and grass growth too. Aeration service might help the situation along with more water, weeds control and bermudagrass seeding.
I've been playing off the regular men's tees lately and having more fun. I did not hit practice balls before I started, and gave myself a couple of mulligans to even the score with the wind and course conditions. I was just 6 over par this day, and had fun despite the situation. Age 62.

The greens have too much poa annual weeds. I also saw some damage on several under repair. The fairways and rough had too many dallisgrasses. The fairways need to be smoother. Right now it's a teeth cracking, spine jolting moon ride over them in a cart. Some of the players have no respect for course too. They ride their carts right up to the greens.

The greens, fairways and first cut on the golf course were in good condition. The positions of the flag stick were sometimes pretty brutal however. I had one three putt and one four putt out there. I normally never get four putts. However, I did respond by knocking down 14', 16', and a 21' putts. I almost knocked in a 50'er too.
I can't say I enjoyed all the playing partners however. A little better golf edicate would be nice.
My advice to other players is to not try to make hero shots from treed areas like I did. Get your ball back in the fairway immediately.

The course was drenched, but I moved the ball around when necessary. The BAD was the tee boxes and standing water all over the course. The tee boxes were mostly bare of grass, which for me was no biggie, but for others, it may be an issue. Some of the greens were beat up a bit too. The fairways were pretty green in color but need more growth. I compensated by moving my ball around some. The layout is challenging and fun, and I hit a lot of greens with my iron shots, which was satisfying.

The course is dry as the desert in many areas, so if you land off the fairways, there may not be any moisture in the soil. The greens are in pretty good shape, and I made a couple of 10 footers, which was nice. The benefit to the dry conditions obviously is that you can crack some long drives. I wish that the sand bunkers were there, but obviously if personnel and players cannot maintain them properly, then it's better that they're removed.

This used to be a top notch public course, but things have gone down hill over time. You can tell that we are in a recession and heat wave right now too. It looks like fungus attacked some of the greens; dallisgrass and sedge weeds are abundant, and some fairways are bone dry. I lost one ball in a crevice in the middle of the fairway!

This course offers a real challenge to your overall game except for the driver. The fairways were so wide you can't miss -well maybe twice. It was a unique golfing experience seeing a lot of natural terrain in Houston, which was hilly. I played the blue tees and found that at my age, playing the white ones would have made the round more fun. The greens were well protected by those bunkers and the sand within them just about perfect on this day. I don't recall seeing a weed on the course. WOW! The most difficult aspect of this course was the greens. They were the toughest I recall ever playing.

This golf course will challenge your playing ability to the fullest extent, so it's best to be ready for it. I played bogey golf today because my driving was not so sharp. Towards the end of the round I discovered a lack of full concentration was the problem. As far as the golf course is concerned, it was a challenge seeing where the ideal hitting zone was, due to overgrown bamboo etc., plus, the Marshall was "push" "push" "push". There was a tournament getting started at around 12PM. I get it! Torpedo grass is becoming more of a problem here in spots too. The round ended pretty well with a par on 18 which made me happy.
Hello. Thank you so much for your feedback. We are glad you had enjoyed your time at Wildcat Golf Club - The Lakes, and pride ourselves on delivering the best experience possible.

The course is in nice condition and I had a good time, losing just one ball to the woods on a faded drive. The poor fellas I played with had a long day out there however.
The greens were aerated not to long ago, so they were a bit bumpy. This course allows you to park under the cover of mature trees between holes which I like.
My trusty i25 PING irons and Anser putter from 1996 still help me hit green and putt well.
Hello, superdave3. Thank you for visiting us at Pearland Golf Club. We appreciate your 4-star rating and review! We hope you visit us for again soon!
Clear Creek Golf Course

The course hasn't recovered from winter activity and most of the greens were full of poa annua patches after the recent freeze killed the greens. Also, some of the tee boxes were ground up pretty bad too. The good thing is that the fairways were good enough to launch your shots comfortably with irons or metal woods. The pin placements were evil on several greens on the front nine, so don't expect to kill it on the greens putting during your round.

Played On 12/24/2020Windy Day of Golf
I don't play many premium or members only courses, so there may be limited value in my evaluation here. Who needs Austin terrains when you can play here? The course is well maintained and a good challenge. A cold front was pushing down and it was super windy and chilly, which impacted my play a lot. One of the bright spots was my par on 17. I came on close with a 5 metal wood.

I enjoyed the challenge the course offered. All aspects of your game are tested here, so you must hit greens to give yourself a shot at par unless you like being stressed out trying to recover.
The greens are not easy, so stay below the holes and putt up hill if the pin is located on a sloped position.
The wind can be the negative to this golf club, so learn quickly what clubs to use down wind and against it.
Wow, we are so happy you enjoyed your round, superdave3! We look forward to seeing you again soon.

The course was a fun challenge as usual. This is my fifth time to play it. The greens are especially impressively; designed to reward those that can read greens. I am also happy with the sand traps, which have ample sand inside them, so rescue from them is consistent throughout the course.

Played On 05/18/2019The cashier had me start on #10 to quickly move around the course. I finished in 2.5 hours. As usual, the fairways, greens and rough were beautifully green and mostly weed free.
The cook made me a burger with fries which was above average for agolf course burger.
Management has 80s rock coming from the outdoor speaks at the clubhouse which I like.
It's a pleasure to play here and I highly recommend that golfers looking for a premium, public golf to play consider this venue.

The holes with water can make your knees knock a bit, so you need to get the distances right and hit crisp shots. I was wondering if something wrong with gps on #10.
There were invasive grasses and weeds accumulating on some holes like St. Augustine and nutsedge. M.S.M.A. is need and Sedgehammer.
For what I paid, it was great value golfing.
Thank you Superdave, and we're thrilled you thought it was a great value. We always chasing down those invasive grasses on the edges, so we hope to have you back again.

The fairways here are nice and wide in comparison to Heron Lakes (Should be named Duck Lakes) for example, and filled well with Bermuda grass. This day they needed mowing however. There was some St. Augustine grass that was being treated (killed) by chemical that is encroaching into Bermuda areas. So, I moved my ball once to get around it. The greens and bunkers were good too, but not fancy country club good. The layout of the course was pretty fun and I had a nice round. I shall return.
Thank you Superdave. We look forward to having you back.

The course could be made even more difficult but that would slow play some. The reason I play here is because of the interesting course design. More trees added would be nice however. The courses' condition is pretty good for this time of year, but I take issue with allowing St. Aug. & various weeds around greens. In addition, some of the bunkers need work -namely #12. The par 3 #5 is too long which causes a log jam. I suggest more bunkers plus shortening it. I also long for less water and more sand on some of the holes on the back 9 too. Nice practice facilities for warmup. The free beers & fat hot dog dog was appreciated.

The course offers a good challenge for your game. And I like that the designers provide a relatively easy first hole to help give golfers a warmup hole. The golfers there are mostly courteous enough to let faster player pass through.

This course is truly integrated into the housing community here, with lots of street crossings. The course is very interesting and as challenging as it gets around the Houston Area. For my iron play to be effective I need drier turf. I missed too many greens while hitting through saturated turf. The par 3s were as tough as they get. I got the yips out there a few times. Some of the greens were like putting on a table top too; especially putting downhill. I played the blue tees. Nice golf course!
Thanks again SuperDave. The par-3s are beasts! Hope you make it back over to Quail Valley again.
We're sorry to hear about the course conditions and appreciate your detailed feedback; we're working on improvements and maintenance to address these issues. Thank you for letting us know, and we're glad you still had fun playing our course.
