Oak Quarry Golf Club
Played On 05/02/2016This is a terrific course - BUT...
I love Oak Quarry and have played it 6-7 times when in SoCal. It is well groomed and cared for and a great layout using well the unique territory it is built on. It is similar to and nearly as scenic as Desert Canyon GC (Orondo, Washington). HOWEVER, the pace of play yesterday (on a Monday) was dreadful. it took three hours to play the front nine and five and a half for all 18. We never saw a course marshall. There were four groups, mostly waiting, on some of the holes. At the end of the day we kindly and calmly told the pro shop of our experience and were told that they have a course policy of not hurrying or moving slow groups. WHAT??? This is not the first time I have had this experience at Oak Quarry either. Last year, when the group I was in came up on not one but two groups waiting to tee off on about the 6th or 7th hole, we simply drove back to the club house and left. I hope that the management wise up and realize that they simply MUST do something about allowing the scourge of slow play to continue and thus destroy the experience (let alone the scores and tempers of patrons). Sadly, with so many choices in the Inland Empire, I'm not going back until there is an effort to deal with this.

This is a great golf track. It must have been premier 30 years ago as the homes surrounding it are aging but there is new construction going on too.
The problem currently is that the course was recently logged of several hundred trees. Its a real mess at present. Plus the greens were freshly punched.
I'll be back but not until they are finished with the renovations. Next, I hope they'll bring the club house into the 21st century next.
Coyote Creek Golf Club - The Tournament Course
Played On 01/27/2015No Push Over
This is a great course that just keeps coming at you. Many holes require very accurate tee shots. Greens were in great shape. Make a note that many putts do not require as much break as you might think. Unless you are striping it perfectly, be prepared to take an extra club on many shots. Down notes would be noise from the freeway on some holes and the many environmental areas on the front 9. You've got to avoid them because you cannot go after your ball if you hit in them.

Great layout... Challenging but fair. Beautiful setting. Course in grest shape regardless of heavy downpours earlier in the week. Greens were very good, subtle tricks but rolled nice.
One DRAWBACK is that the course allows fivesomes. Pace of play was an issue. Plus, the fivesome ahead of my group played from the back tees. Fivesomes are a blight regardless of who or where.
