It was a perfect day for a “top down on the convertible” drive up to Payson from metro Phoenix. But I’m afraid the course conditions just aren’t very good. The greens had long grass plus were very bumpy and SLOW. The fairways and tee boxes were also “rough around the edges”. The rate seemed like a good deal (but given the course conditions, it was just “ok”).

It’s an average condition golf course with a relatively simple layout, but at the rate we paid it was fairly priced (unlike many these days).

I’ve now played Red Mountain a few times over the past 8 years. It’s a tough course and the layout gives it the potential to be spectacular. However, it seems like every time I play it, the condition is worse than the previous time. The fairways were in fairly good condition but immediately off the fairway it was often just dirt. The bunkers were not well maintained. Worst of all the greens were poor - slow, bumpy, patchy.

Right from the bag drop, to the practice facility, to the perfectly manicured course/greens and on to the apres-golf beverage on the patio… fantastic! We’ll be back…

We got our tee time at rather low rate but in hindsight the course conditions were appropriate for the green fee.

A decent course at a fair price (which is getting harder to find)!

Course was in really good, post overseed shape, and given the cost it was great value!

Sundance is a very nice golf course. Course layout and condition makes for a good golf challenge... at a fair price!

Almost every tee shot is visually beautiful and tactically challenging. You have to make elevation adjustments on every shot. The grass is all dormant this time of year but I WILL be back when the course is green!

It’s a VERY good golf course, lots of dog legs, where just about every hole offers an opportunity for a scenic photo op, with those beautiful red rocks as the back drop.
