The Tattersall Youth Development Center at The First Tee Chesterfield Golf Course
Played On 04/03/2024$50 for a tee time at this course is ridiculous
This course is a short “developmental” course and not by any means a real challenge however $50 for a tee time is ridiculous here. The course is not in great shape and I’ve played way better courses for almost half the price. I’ve lost count how many pitch marks were not repaired, cart paths are horrible - huge bumps, cracks…etc.
There’s no grill, no cart girl, and pace of play was really slow as there are a lot of hackers that play here that don’t have great golf etiquette and there’s no Marshall to enforce this.
Won’t play here again unless it’s a $28 “Hot Deal” because that’s all that this course is worth. Play at The Highlands or Brickshire.
Lake Chesdin Golf Club
Played On 03/30/2024Aerated greens, range being closed, and cart path only made for a crappy round…
Coming back to play Chesdin at the start of spring and it was a little disappointing to say the least. Range was “closed” but looked fairly dry. Not sure why they don’t implement mats as not having a warmup before a round really made things difficult for alot of folks including me.
Pace of play was a little slower than normal as the weather is starting to warm up a bit and a lot more people are starting to get back out. They did not have a Marshall out.
Also didn’t know the greens had been aerated which definitely had an effect on most putts. Not interested in coming back until the summer time when course conditions improve and the crowd dies down a bit.
The Golf Club at The Highlands
Played On 03/03/2024A soggy time, but worth it.
Due to a couple rain days in the area from previous days, the course was very soggy and wet however the greens here are like a glass table and run REALLY fast. Putting was challenging, but fun.
Overall I think it wasn’t the best day to go out for a round due to the wet conditions but we are still in that time of year where the Bermuda grass is still dormant. I’d love to come back and see what this course looks like in the summer.
Brickshire Golf Club
Played On 08/18/2023Course in GREAT shape but had to deal with rude Marshall.
Course is in the best shape I’ve seen it. Played in a twosome with my dad. Pace was generally okay even though we had a couple foursomes ahead of us and everything was going great until the marshall literally came out of nowhere (probably hiding) and was being really rude apparently because my 72 year old dad had to climb out of a bunker on the back 9. No need to be an absolute unpleasant about that. I feel like that left a bad taste in our mouths the rest of the round.

Played On 08/11/2023Okay course for $35 and under
I’ve played here many times — I often play here as a “warm up” before a weekend round with my group. The course itself is in pretty good shape if you’re paying $25-30 via a hot deal on golf now. I don’t think playing this course is worth their regular rate of $45. I could play way better courses for that price.
Pace can be an issue here depending on the day as there could be quite a lot of seniors or hackers out there as it is a “developmental” course however I’ve never had any issues with groups letting me play through.
There is a starter but only on weekends so if you like to go out as a single and just want to work on your game without the stress about getting paired up, then this course is for you.
The Hollows Golf Club - Lake/Cottage
Played On 08/09/2023Great course for the price
The Hollows is a great course if you don’t wanna break the bank for a round of golf. The price is good especially for a Hot Deal on golf now (like $30), but there’s a couple things to note.
- Gravel/dirt cart paths (avoid going here after it rains or you’ll be in for a muddy mess)
- No cart girl
- No restaurant or “grill” (that I was aware of)
- No ball cleaners or club cleaning stations
- Driving range is in pretty rough shape — it’s more of a warm up range
Magnolia Green Golf Club
Played On 08/09/2023Fun and challenging course, but WAY overpriced for what it is.
Magnolia Green is a fun and challenging course but it’s not worth the $100+ for a tee time. They are trying to hype up this course to be one of the “best in Virginia” but I’ve played way better courses for half the price.

Played On 06/21/2020Great course if you need the practice!
I'm a amateur golfer and I always play this course when I just want to play a easy 18 holes. From my experience, if you are golfing by yourself they don't pair you up with any other groups which Is nice.
For $37 to play 18 holes, I would highly recommend as this course is in great shape!
