Lake Spanaway Golf Course
Played On 06/02/2019Impressed
Was impressed with the staff freindliness and the conditions of the greens, fast and firm! Really love the layout and it's over 7000 yards from the black tees so should keep even the bigger hitters happy. Favorite hole was the par 3 7th? an elevated tee to a large green. The 1950's-60's clubhouse and out-house buildings add a sence of a different era. The huge Fir trees are a bonus and the golf history in the clubhouse (Ryan Moore winning p-sound Am) is cool to look at (history of clubs/balls)
The Cascade at Gold Mountain Golf Course
Played On 06/04/2018greens are amazing
greens are some of the best I have ever played in the NW. I will return for sure
Druids Glen
Played On 03/12/2018great greens
I do not know what happened but the greens, even in the late winter are very nice. last year at this time they were horrible. they fixed some of the bunkers also. They are definitely spending some much needed effort/money on the course. with the length of the course and the dificulty it could host a major local tournment. the layout is that good
Mount Si Golf Course
Played On 09/24/2017nice views
played this course for a long time, I love it in the fall when trees are turning color. really beautiful with the backdrop of the west faces of Mt Si. the course seems a little convoluted and some holes its hard to tell where the holes go, doesn't flow well, but its worth it for the scenery alone. Also the greens keeper puts the pins on or near the same spots every time i play there, especially hole 18. front left always. even though it a huge green with some really cool places for the hole.
Blue Heron Golf Course
Played On 08/11/2017and oldie but goodie
First I would like to say thank you too the new owners, anyone who puts their time, effort and money into keeping a golf course around is something we all should appreciate and admire, cause once they bulldoze, its gone forever. I began golfing here in 1984 when it was the Carnation golf course, the holes are the same except they switched the 9s and made the 438 yrd 12th (old 3rd) a par 5(was a 4). I like the layout and it played fast and brown, just like its supposed too. but the greens were slower and softer than the way they should of been so was expecting hard holding greens but got soft receptacle ones which was kinda strange but its very beautiful with no houses around the course and i will return
Willows Run Golf Club - Coyote Creek Course
Played On 07/30/2017nice course
I have been playing here since it opened in 1999/2000, although I haven't played there for 3-4 years. its semi links style with not many trees and undulating greens. the greens were in great shape but they definitely watered them as they were slow for this time of year. The other 18 hole course, Eagles Talon is more challenging and longer. Coyote Creek is shorter, tighter and more target golf. One thing I didn't like is on a few holes they let the longer tee boxed overgrow and do not use anymore, which for a longer hitter i don't like, and they should adjust the length of the course on the card as its misleading. other than that i really like the course and advise any golfer to play there. Also they used to have a practice bunker and got rid of it(its harder and harder to find practice bunkers)
The Home Course
Played On 07/17/2017loved it! wind and all
I loved the layout and true links style bunkering. greens are challenging but nice. not too fast when i played them. my playing partner said he liked it as much as chambers bay links, but chambers bay is on a different level as far as difficulty, scenery and overall "bigness", but it is a US open course after all. but i will return and it was really worth the long drive. oh and loved the wind!! after all its part of the game
Auburn Golf Course
Played On 04/17/2017An old classic
Auburn has some really cool holes with a variety of design, uphill, downhill, water doglegs,, ect..(4,5,6,9,11,13,14,15 and their signature hole number 16) but it also has some bland holes mixed in,( 2,10,17). If the greens are in good condition and its dry, its really a good course that's fun and challenging. Its not a great winter course as seems to hold water. prices are very reasonable and the staff helpful
Riverbend Golf Complex
Played On 04/09/2017ENJOYABLE
I really like the layout, the back 9 really has some great holes (11,12,13,15 and 17) with doglegs and ob/water in play(dont hook it!) the front 9 is a little boring but has a few niceish holes (2,3,4, and 8) if the greens are in good shape/fast it can be a good test. slow play is a real issue here, they need to get a marshal that will do something about it. each time i play it, i find it very enjoyable
Oakbrook Golf Club
Played On 04/03/2017its okay
disapointed golfnow didnt tell me could only play back 9 twice as they were sanding front 9 greens. its an ok course, feels kinda crowded and it doesnt have a good flow, but, the trees are beautiful. fairways are beat up and not much sand in bunkers. hardpan
Classic Golf Club
Played On 03/26/2017nice layout-horrible weather
I love the layout and difficult greens. I think getting rid of the trees was a good idea especially when the stumps get overgrown some. the greens are tricky and fast even in rainy winter weather. cant wait to play it in summer
Chambers Bay
Played On 03/20/2017FORGET THE HATERS
The host course for the 2015 US open is very challenging, fun, fair and sooo beautiful. Its links style so bounces don't always go your way. the greens still need some help but you can still make putts. The last 4 holes are classic!! the hardest part of chambers is the wind and the green areas. you need imagination, creativity and a good touch with putter and chips/pitches. for golf channel to not include this course as one of the best links course in America is not right. go play it! you wont regret and when the open comes back, the greens will be better
McCormick Woods Golf Course
Played On 10/02/2016good not great course
a nice layout but the houses take away from the ambience.
North Shore Golf Club
Played On 09/25/2016going downhill
a really nice layout but the condition is going down hill, but i guess its better than having it bull dozed over for houses.
The Olympic at Gold Mountain Golf Course
Played On 09/25/2016great course
The course lived up to all what others have told me. was excellent!! worth the 1hr+ drive. the par 3s are all really nice. my favorite holes are 2,6,16 and 17
Druids Glen
Played On 09/12/2016TOUGH COURSE
A GREAT LAY OUT BUT COULD BE IN BETTER CONDITION. I LIKE THE NEW GREEN AREA ON NUMBER 12. A TOUGH TEST INDEED
Update.. I played the complete course on 5-27-18 and it was in wonderful shape. greens were fast and true and we got around on a Sunday in 4 hrs 10 minutes!
