Crowsnest Pass Golf and Country Club
Played On 07/18/2014Interesting course
Beautiful mountain course that's very challenging and could be a little confusing if it wasn't for the great descriptions on the scorecard on how to play the holes. There are places where you have to put the driver away and pick the right club because of a dogleg or a hazard. The course is hilly and would be very hard to walk with long uphill treks to the next tee on some holes. The greens are a little hard to read for a flatlander but that is typical of mountain layouts. I would definitely recommend this course just for the scenery, it reminded me a little bit of Kokanee Springs. When we played the weather was great but I know the wind can get pretty crazy through the Pass so pick your day with that in mind. First time players like us still needed a little help from the locals but overall very enjoyable.

Played On 9/9/2013Really nice course but
I've been golfing this course for 30 years and never get tired of the layout. It winds through a valley formed by a small creek that comes into play on a number of holes. A true country course where there's lot of room and you never feel crowded, in fact you are hard pressed to even see adjacent holes most times. The course is in great shape although they had started punching and sanding the greens the day we played. Now the but, in an effort to make the course play harder they have narrowed the fairways by extending the rough on both sides. This wouldn't be a bad idea if there was a first cut of rough and then a longer cut further out but right off the fairway the rough is 3 to 4 inches long. And it's lush so much so that we spend a considerable amount of time just looking for balls because you can't see them until you're right on top of them. This reduces the enjoyment factor where a ball a foot off a now narrow fairway is very difficult to hit. It's been like this all season and is making the course frustrating not challenging.

Played On 9/2/2013Course is in Great shape
This is not the first time I've played this course but it was probably in the best shape I've seen it this time. The course is moderately challenging with lots of trees if you miss the wide fairways. Water comes into play on more than a few holes where accuracy trumps length. Greens where excellent even on the Monday of a long weekend. Overall very enjoyable course to play, my only complaint is the tree on the first hole that is right in the middle of the fairway making for a very difficult third shot on the par 5. It wouldn't be so bad if it came later in the order but as it stands I usually walk away with a bogie to start my round :(
