Pine Lakes Golf Club
Played On 09/22/2018Decent course but losing balls too easy.
This course was frustrating to play because I lost several balls that were hit just off the fairway. I knew within a few feet where the balls were, but couldn't find them. In many places the grass in the rough is long and the type of grass it is means you can walk right over a ball and not see it. If I did find my ball, I was afraid to walk back to my car to to get a club because I might not be able to find the ball again.
I understand that the rough should be harder to hit from than the fairway, but to have it so long that you lose half the balls hit into it makes it more frustrating than fun. Also, the speed of play is greatly reduced because of the time people spend looking for balls they thought they would find easily.
In some places the fairways were in pretty rough shape, but for the most part the course is in good condition.
Although the price to play was quite reasonable I think I will not be back soon. I'd rather play somewhere else that I don't lose so many balls with a few feet of the fairway.

Overall not a bad course, but I would not have played there if I'd known one of the greens was temporary. Every green is guarded by water or deep bunkers, so not a course for a beginner. Fairways are reasonably wide, but fairway bunkers are common. Since I am a 22 handicapper, it wasn't as much fun for me as for someone who mis-hits fewer shots than I do.
