Played On 01/12/2024Good winter round
Course condition remarkably good given recent rainfall.
Played off grass on most tees, and all full greens. Fairways had decent coverage of grass. All in all, in good nick.
Easy enough walk too, mostly gently sloping with tree lined fairways, all on high ground with views over the Bristol Channel and countryside. Rough ares kept well trimmed.
Nice place to be.

Played On 06/16/2023Varied and interesting course
Enjoyed the game, despite significant climbs and down slopes mostly on the back 9.
It was a very warm day but plenty of shade to be found and the general course condition was very good.

Played a 3-ball with a pal and my 13 yr old grandson and it was brilliant. Cool bright day on the cliff top. Course in great nick, well drained after last week's rain and good grass cover for so early in the year. They've reduced the areas of deep grass so the course is generally very forgiving. No way back from over the cliff, though. Bunkers are poor at the moment, desperately in need of good sand.
Most notably, there were so few playing it's such a shame for the business.
We tee'd off at 13:00 and there were times with half the course in sight when there were no other players in sight.
I've played here often and never tire of it. Great value too..

Don't forget to check the forecast before playing here!
It's very exposed on high ground looking over the Channel and last Thurs it was not forecast to rise above 6* with 20+mph wind. Boy oh boy, there was no respite.
That said, the course was in it's usual good condition. There's little danger of frost any day and heavy rain is just cast off. Only the first, which is flat and low lying showed signs of standing water. Everywhere else is well drained and we were on mats and full greens throughout. Fairways are generous and first cut is a fair length.
I've played a number of times before and keep returning. Choose a warmer and calmer day and it's a lovely place to be.

What a beautiful place to spend an afternoon.
Mid-October, still warm enough for shorts, wall to wall sunshine, wonderful views across Seaton and along the coast from Torbay to Portland, little wind and next to no-one else on the course. Fabulous, especially for the relatively slow player.
Course in as good nick as I've seen it. Some areas previously left long, now manicured. Not all, of course, but some helping difficult drives. Greens too in good order, better than previous. The course in general is wide and forgiving but with a few tricky holes to test even the best. Namely. 2, 3, 7, 16, 17, 18. I can't master 17, requires pinpoint drive and fine second to a green in a gathering deep hollow. Very hard. They say SI 4, I say no.1.
Very enjoyable, tricky in part..

Played On 09/16/2022Nice course, improving after rain.
This is a good parkland course, ideal for mid to high handicap players, fairly flat and quite short. Some tight drives and fairways though.
In pretty good nick after what has been a very dry summer. Grass recovering well everywhere, but greens were heavily sanded. They will be very true in time. Tees were notably well kept too which a lot of courses would do well to copy!
Altogether a nice place to be.

Love this course. It's a little quirky,
Front 9 is classic parkland and good fun, but back 9 has a number of exceptional holes. 10, 12 and 16 are all interesting.
Greens are well watered and in very good condition, but I thought the fairways were too tight, especially for mid-July. Weather has been very dry and the grass will just continue to burn off.
I travel from Taunton and really enjoy the drive too. Crediton is off the beaten track and a good choice when summer traffic is crazy on the M5 and A30.

Fairway grass notably good, greens good too.
Course is quirky as ever. Classic parkland first 9, quite narrow in parts, but some very steep climbs making interesting holes in second 9. My favourites are 12 and 16. We return to play every 4 months or so.

Mature parkland course in very good nick given the extreme heat in July. Today, cooler, breezy and some rain in the air but very enjoyable. Made the climb through 6 and 7 more bearable. I did see some players skipping 6-10, but they're missing some of the best holes.
Good grass cover everywhere and not too long and punishing under the trees. Good layout with generous seperation between fairways. Greens undulating, quite tricky but running well.
Not very long so kinder to those with higher handicaps.
A couple of moans, however. Too little sand in bunker at 18, my shot removed all sand and carved into clay!
Couldn't find the permanent white/yellow/red tee markers on any tee so unable to check actual yardages. In their defence the fairway yardage markers are extremely good.
Most will enjoy their rounds.

Car park full with morning players but very quiet starting at 13:00, no pressure at all which is how I like it.
Course in need of water after a prolonged dry breezy period. Groundsmen watering lawns today but already damaged and in only fair condition. Fairways were still good.
Cool wind on the clifftop but bright and sunny so views over sea, countryside and Seaton were exceptional.
It's an exposed course so quite forgiving. Played several times and always enjoyable.

Played On 12/21/2020Good for December
Started on 8 to protect the first half and give it a few hours to improve from recent rainfall. Overall the conditions underfoot were extremely good for December. Good grass cover.
No temp greens, but some were damaged by rabbits.
The course is on the clifftops above Seaton and the clouds were either just overhead or came low enough to shroud us in mist. Only rained for the last 2 or 3 holes.
Plenty of room if you don't stay on line but with some quite tricky holes at 16, 17 & 18.
Played a number of times in the past and certainly look forward to playing again in Spring and Summer.

Enjoyed getting out again.
Course in reasonable condition but surprisingly wet in places and there were areas needing protection if they're not to deteriorate quickly.
First time I've had to carry in a very long time.
For those who know the course, we decided not to take on the very hilly 10-12, but instead played 1-9,1,15-18 and that worked just fine. Got in no-one's way.
Only one criticism was the poor attention to temp. greens, but happily these were only on 1&17.
Look forward to returning in the Spring!

Played On 10/07/2020Reasonably level course with good views to the Mendips
First impression was how nice the approach drive is to a smart clubhouse. Next was how lush the course was with well defined first/second/rough cuts.
The conditions were remarkably good given the days of heavy rain we've just had. In fact the course was closed 3 days ago.
Some water hazards but they oughtn't to be a problem. Greens proved to be fast and true also.
A number of short par 4s on the first 9 but narrow and needing accuracy. 3 x long par 5's in a row on the back, no.15 being the most tricky.
I was slightly disappointed at only 8 mins. separation of tee times, but noted that it's 10 mins on other days!
All in all an enjoyable outing and I'm very happy to recommend the place. Great value, bought with a monthly GolfPass credit.

Played On 09/09/2020Course with a view.
Lovely day and enjoyable course with excellent views of Lyme and the coast from several holes.
We played with a Golfpass credit for £15, so massively discounted from the usual day rate.
Recent rain means the grass condition is very good on fairways, greens, and rough! Layout is fine but quite tight in places, so expect other golfers on your fairways occasionally.
Enjoyed the doglegs at 4, 5 and 15.
Followed a 4 ball who had a couple of walkers with them, clueless of golf etiquette. They would dawdle on the green after the golfers had left! Soon called to play through so that eased the blood pressure.
A great improvement on our previous visit when it blew a gale and was almost impossible to stand up near the cliff top, and the balls were blow away on the green at 16!
Nice course, I recommend it.
Sidmouth Golf Club
Played On 07/17/2020Generally very enjoyable but it did feel confined and surprisingly busy. Greens in good condition, fairways and paths a little less so. Some difficulty with cross fall on dry fairways. Makes driving accuracy very important.
Be prepared for a number of steep climbs and downhills 8-12. Care is required as some shots are blind and holes cross each other and share fairways, 1/18 and 9/10.
I will play again, in perhaps 6-12 months.
